Okay, not to be a grammar cop, but hasn't an hour always been 60 minutes. It's more hours, not longer ones. Longer work week is what he means. May sound petty but he's running for President. If it's out of context, shame on him and his campaign manager. If it's not out of context, he worries me.

I hope it doesn't come down to him and hilly to vote for. Either way what is happening in Greece will happen here on their watch.

Let's see...I work my regular job, 0800-1600 however, to make sure things are ready to go when my guys arrive I'm there 0700-1700. Then, after that, I'm either plowing snow most of the night in the winter (then back to work in the daytime) or working my second gig mowing lawns from the time I get off 'til dark then retiring to the garage to handle maintenance/prep for the next day on my equipment. Following those duties I have to squeeze in laundry, cleaning house, ironing work clothes and all the other regular stuff any homeowner needs to do. Weekends I work both days. Somewhere in there I try to manage a few hours of sleep. Any idea just where in the hell I can fit in "more hours"? I'm open to suggestions.

I agree with FDC let some of the free loaders get 1 job. I work 2 paying jobs plus I help my son on his small farm. Yes he has a full time job also.

Too many chiefs and freeloaders (government waste) working the system and not enough working Indains and peons nowdays. Need a good house cleaning. Have to get the turds out of the water before the water will start clearing downstream.

Damn shame and really really disgusting that last several years I could not vote for someone I thought would really make a good pres. I've had to vote for what I thought maybe would be the better of the sorry AH's running for election, but the only thing good and nice about my voting results is I lost my votes and the sorrier of the AH's won. Losing my votes has been a good thing, would have been more depressing if I had voted for the existing morons. (trying to remain nice)

Well right now and forever as forced upon us by the democrat party screwing us with the ACA the official workweek changed from 40 hours to 30 hours.

I find it amazing that he is in front. The democrat party is his biggest promoter. He should be running as a democrat.

I will work all the hours they will pay me to work. That used to be 50 to 60 with an 80 tossed in now and then.

    These days, capped at 40.

Typical idiotic comment from the political "elite". Only Trump has mentioned the cure for the economy, manufacturing, and he doesn't stand a chance getting elected.

    Typical MSN twist.

Though I am not a Bush supporter, he was obviously referring to the increasing number of part time workers and ACA limited 30 hour work weeks.

i agree with you to a point. but to extend that point, an employer saves money by working one more hours, than paying all the expenses [salary and benefits] of an additional employee to make up that difference. so while Jeb wasn't technically FOS he definitely wasn't accurate on the way to get more money into the hands of more people. hiring more employees gets people back on track, not working a select few more hours.quote:Originally posted by Don McManus

To clarify Bush's statement: he meant that part time workers need full time employment not that everybody needs to work more hours.

As usual ............... half a story, lots of judgement.

I think it is obvious to most that his wording is easily taken out of context. Especially when the media runs with it that way. He really was thinking that more workers need to work normal full time work weeks, not extensive overtime or multiple jobs. That would generate more spendable income to "grow the economy". My concern is that a frontrunner for the biggest job in the world isn't more selective or clear in his wording. Similar in oversight to his back peddling comments on invading Iraq. Reminiscent of his big brothers "Too many OB/GYN's" statement. [8]

Regardless of his intent either way is wrong.
If American Businesses are cutting staff (I don't know of any) to 30 hours or less to avoid paying FT benefits that is simply greed, and why not offer some type of benefits to part time workers. If Uncle Sammy wants older Americans to continue to work into their 70's i for one don't want to work full time hours but could contribute greatly in a reduced time status.

I agree. He meant that due to the lack of high-paying jobs, Americans are forced to work more hours to make ends meet.
