And or OR is important on the title. They both own it. If it is and.. they both must sign the title. Or.. she can and release it. Just make sure HE has signed the title .. in front of a notary.. to verify he did it and she did not forge his name or power of attorney. I would not touch that car without a title.

Do not identify yourself (cash) park it around back, and put a 'parting out' ad on 'that fellows' list.

    jk,

In most states a title is required to license a vehicle, a signed, and witnessed bill of sale may be enough to get a new title issued if you want to street it. Parting it out, shouldn't need more than a handwritten note.
Sounds like code enforcement's been after her.

It is a 98 mercury sable and its in great shape minus the blown engine and messed Up trans. I am thinking the same, code violation. She started out $300 now she is giving it away to whoever gets it.

I dont think Its stolen, she has the vin # in the listing.

I just want it to shoot at. No parting or selling. Just blast away.

She says she cant get a copy of the title without a copy of his id. I dont know, just trying to stay on the right side of the fence.

If anybody contests it later, just hit em with a fee for removal.

This is a regular problem with old motorcycles. In Texas, you can use a bill of sale to get a bonded title.

    http://www.txdmv.gov/motorists/buying-or-selling-a-vehicle/bought-a-vehicle-with-no-title

If you just want to shoot at it, get a bill of sale to demonstrate transfer of ownership and fire away.

around here you can haul it off for junk price if you have a title , if you do not have a title it has to be free of a motor and transmission to be scrap so pulling the drive train out and its good to go that's my understanding of the rules .
they may vary but call the local wrecking / scrap yard

when I was a kid a friend had a bank loan on a 69 firebird , he was about to lose it so he and some buddy's ( I was not there ) chopped it into pieces using axes and sold it off as scrap metal then the motor and trans to some one else [B)][:0][:0]

Here in CA there is a form which the legal owner can fill out and get a duplicate copy of the title. The cost is something like $25, but you need documentation. At the very least I'd expect Owner's current address, driver license number, the Vehicle's license plate number, and a statement about what happened to the title. Misplaced or lost would be sufficient.

Keep in mind that only the legal owner can sign the form and if they both were on the title, both have to sign it and have it notarized.
