A full-size spare tire!

I can't believe that my vehicle actually came with a full-size spare tire in it! Most have donuts or nowadays, even just a slime repair kit.

That is a heck of a lot more useful to me then half the fancy electronic crap they put in cars these days.

Is that one of those jacks you raise in water?

One of the first things I did when I got the Honda was to replace the donut with a proper tire and wheel. Donuts drive funny.

    "hydroponic jack"

I've heard of hydroponic vegetables but this is something new for me.

I like the way you think! I have a small floor jack in each car. They are WAY nicer then dealing with the crappy factory jack and only cost $25-$30.

Plus, I take them both out and use them to rotate tires. [:)]

I swapped out the donut spares in my Cherokee(s) after finding that the bracket would hold a full size spare. Small floor jack in a tool bag plus a 4 way wrench puts me right up there with a NASCAR pit crew compared to finding, assembling, and attempting to use the factory supplied jack/tool.
I carry a duffle bag in my work vehicle that also has oil, serpentine belt, duct tape, hose clamps, a small tarp, modest tool kit, wipe rags, and a 12 volt compressor. The little air pump saved me a nasty job of changing a low tire in an area where simply finding a flat spot was a challenge.

I am in the tire business and will still will not change a flat, full sized spare or not. I am calling triple A and let some young buck risk his life along the highway as texting 20 something bimbos whizz past at 80 MPH.

Doughnut spares save weight and space. They are meant to be used for 50 miles or so at 50 MPH. When used as intended they are perfectly fine.

Hell, I seem to have a full time spare tire. I'd sure like to trade it in for a donut sized spare!

    Peace

A co-worker didn't think about a spare until after he bought a new Cadillac. The dealer wanted almost $1,000 for the donut & accessories (there's a place to store it), so my co-worker bought the donut off of ebarf for only $500.

Yep, I won't carry one of those donuts. I also have a one and a half ton floor jack, and Craftsmans C3 battery powered impact wrench so I don't even have to manually remove Lugnuts.

My KIA Soul just came with the inflator kit. I bought a donut spare & a jack online. With shipping it came to just under $100. Then another $7 or so for a lug wrench at Pep Boys. The Dealer wanted well over $200 for that set.

Some of you guys must run crap for tires. The last tire I changed on the road was 1998. A donut spare and scissor jack is just fine. If that was what my car came with I would leave it alone.

I wonder if you'd feel the same 80 miles up the mountain trail. Most places I go I don't want to rely on 1/2 a tire to get me home

Not to mention I can be on my way with a full size spare and drive down the interstate at 75 mph with nothing to worry about. I'm not doing that on a donut.

If you are driving something that comes with a donut spare from the factory, you got no business being "80 miles up the mountain trail" I've spent my whole life in the woods, and mountains. I stand by my statement.

Just this moment I realized I have never taken the time to learn where or even if there is a jack for my pickup.[:0][B)]
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Yepper. My new truck came on 20" rims.
    The spare, 17".
It's the biggest that will fit under the truck.
Still better than a doughnut tho.

bought a 12v impact and lenghtened the cord on it to reach everywhere, even a trailer and put it and a bunck of flat fixing stuff in a tool box to carry along ...small trolley jack is lots safer than a scissor or bottle jack....take along a chunk of 2x6 to put under lift wheels of jack in soft areas....and a good LED or flashlight
