At a Denver post office, a woman complained to the clerk that a Pony Express rider could get a letter
from Denver to St. Joesph in three days, and now it takes five. "I'd like to know why," she scoffed.

The clerk thought a moment and then suggested, "The horses are a lot older now?"

It has been all down hill since my dad retired from the old Post Office before it was privatized. He started in the early 50's and his first parcel post truck was a 1929 Ford. I am inclined to believe the horse story.
