HOSPITAL BILL
You don't have to be Catholic to appreciate this one!! A man suffered
a serious heart attack while shopping in a store. The store clerks
called 911 when they saw him collapse to the floor. The paramedics
rushed the man to the nearest hospital where he had emergency open
heart bypass surgery...
He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at the
Catholic Hospital. A nun was seated next to his bed holding a clipboard
loaded with several forms, and a pen. She asked him how he was going to pay
for his treatment.
"Do you have health insurance?" she asked.
He replied in a raspy voice, "No health insurance."
The nun asked, "Do you have money in the bank?"
He replied, "No money in the bank."
Do you have a relative who could help you with the payments?" asked the
irritated nun.
He said, "I only have a spinster sister, and she is a nun."
The nun became agitated and announced loudly, "Nuns are not spinsters! Nuns
are married to God."
The patient replied, "Perfect. Send the bill to my brother-in-law."

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
A hospital bill should reflect the cost of the care plus a small percentage for operating money and growth. They are supposed to be non-profit centers; that in itself is another story all together.
Instead we have a bloated bureaucracy in States and Feds causing bloated clerical staffing in care centers handling the BULL SNARKEY forced upon them by the 8 trillion ton bull in the China shop, the government interference in healthcare. None of the extra staff has diddly to do with your direct care, it is just costs.
They charge whatever they please. No accountability to anyone. Shame on them as bad as government. No accountability.
If I had no assets to seize, or cash put back; I would dump that bill on an application for Hill-Burton funding, and claim insolvency.
I'm sure there are now other methods of paying it at private/taxpayer expense, I just can't think of them now.
Shame in America a guy works hard all his life and saves a small fortune to retire on and then losses it all due to an illness and becomes a pauper.
My FIL was a multi millionaire, with the profits from his real Estate and Insurance companies he owned a golf Course, office building and apartments.
When he retired he was living off the money, he had planned for everything except the need for long term care for he and my MIL.
They died penniless on minimum SS since she never worked and he had not contributed all the years he was self employed.

Hospitals/drs charge at least twice what's normal to do any procedure, quadruple the charges on piddly crap like aspirins for $28( inpatient meds) & $19 for a .89 cpap filter (gotta write a Rx for that), and other outrageous prices in order to comply with Goobermint regulations that force those entities to hire additional and unnecessary personnel for record keeping & profitability.
