I am looking into buying a all purpose field shotgun. the three I am looking at are the Browning Gold Camo 3 1/2", or the Benelli SBE 3 1/2" Camo, and the Berretta 3 1/2" Camo. One dealer says that the Gold breaks down a lot, another says that the Benelli will not work well when going from low base rounds to the 3 1/2" stuff. What is your experinces with these field shotguns?

Never shot any of them. Never had a camo gun, either. What for? A fad? Repeat after me...A-5....A-5....A-5......A-5......Then click your heels together three times and say "There's no gun like a classic".

Gotta agree on the A5, it is truly a classic....the Benelli is a first rate shotgun, never had a problem with light or heavy laods, downside on the camo is that it wears off after some use.

I own several of the Benelli's and have never had a problem out of any of them. The SBE has taken anything I feed it. I also have a 1187 Supermag in camo and with the barrel seal activator installed it will shoot 3/4oz light loads fine. I would stick to the Benelli's if I had the Money if not then I would choose the Remington. The A-5's are a nice shotgun however they wont handle a 3.5.

Alpine, you didn't mention what gauge you want? I have a browning bps in 10ga. it is the shadowgrass with a 26". I love the feel and handle of it and for what it is it actualy is quiet nice to shoot. The recoil is not much more than the 3.5 12ga.But if you are looking for a one gun fits all stick with the 12's for the versatility (sp) this is a job specific (turkey and waterfowl) gun for me so I don't mind that is only eating 3.5 ammo. My brother has a mossy 835 ulti-mag which you can get fairly cheap and they will digest about anything you feed them.

The first mentioned guns are only available in 12 gauge. 10 gauge is a little to strong for me. Pumps are not in consideration as I am used to o/u's or semi's. Also light weight is a consideration as I am getting older and after a period of time the weight is an issue.
