Motorcycle Road Trip

I mentioned this in the "Sturgis" thread, but since it's long gone on the third page I'll ask again.

A buddy and I are taking a ride on the 6th of September and coming back on the 15th. He is going to visit his daughter in Las Vegas and his dad in Casa Grande, Arizona. We'll be riding the backroads across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Arizona and then come back through Nevada, Idaho, up to Missoula, Montana and across Lolo Pass and down the Clearwater River, back into Washington and home. If any of you good folks live along the way and would like to meet up for a beer/coffee/soda pop, say the word and we'll make it happen.

I haven't been on a decent road trip in two years and I'm really looking forward to it. And believe it or not, my ol' lady is letting me go without any pissing and moaning. Got me a little worried. Why does she want me gone???

Trip sounds like fun. A bit out of my territory, however.

Why does she want you gone??? Get serious. If YOU had to live with YOU, wouldn't you want YOU out of the house as much as possible?

Sounds like a he** of a nice trip you have coming. Wish I was somewhere close to the route. I'd sure have a cup, and maybe enjoy a few twists, turns, and mile markers with ya'll.You don't sound like the type that would come to a dirt road and turn around (just because it is a dirt road). I was riding with some people who did just that. At the time I could not figure out what was wrong. I later found out that they were afraid to ride on anything but pavement with their harleys. I have seen some of the best sights from a dirt/gravel road.A friend I ride with now, rides harleys and BMW's. You should see the looks we get from jeep/bronco/blazer/etc. drivers when they see a big BMW and a full dresser on some of the (trails?) we have been on.Wish you two the best of luck on the trip. Have a safe one, and of course WATCH OUT FOR THE OTHER GUY. Let us know how the ride goes.

If I knew then, what I know now.

Wish I was, man. One of the best bike trips I ever took was in 1996 when the ol' lady and I spent several weeks riding around Colorado. What a beautiful state. I won't get that far east this time around, but I damn sure plan on doing more riding in Colorado sometime in this life.

Maybe it's been too long since you went on one and she knows you'll be easier to live with after you get back. A good road trip can do wonders for one's mental well being and general attitude towards the world. In short, she knows it's good for the head.
