The Hurricane just tore the whole interstate bridge apart.

    That bridge goes across the channel leading from the gulf into Lake Ponchartrain. The surge being funneled into this constricted area apparently created some pretty strong uplift.

    The Hwy. 90 bridge, which is a much older design, also crosses this channel a little further out toward the gulf. It's still there.
