So admit it; who has tried the gangster thing?

You know, when you hold the pistol all-sideways and try to think of a snappy one-liner involving the word "homeboy".
I was putting the silicone cloth to my little Glock following a cleaning, when I thought of a scene from "Bringing Down the House" (It's alright, not great, but a few funny moments) where Steve Martin is pointing a Glock, very similar to my own, at a would-be assailant, and Queen Latifah reaches over to turn his gun over so that it is held in the afore-mentioned manner
So, has anyone actually tried it? Is it simply a style thing? Pointing mine like that (the slide is back, the clip is out, and it's thoroughly unloaded) it seems that it may actually have something on instinctual, unaimed firing. I may have to find out for sure next time I get a chance to go out shooting, assuming of course it will ever stop monsooning.
I've also heard that holding a firearm in that manner makes it more difficult for the ballistics guys to determine where the shooter was standing by the placement of the shell-casings, but that sounds a little sketchy to me.

So, for those that have tried it - how does it recoil? Does the muzzle still rise or does it swivel in instead?
I thought I looked kinda gangstery.

I read in some gun rag that holding the gun side ways in your off hand will help you lock your wrist better.

When shooting without using the sights ("point shooting") the hand eye coordination that allows this stems from the many rounds fired while using sights. All of this practice causes your hand to eventually become used to pointing where you're looking. Changing the way a pistol is held for unsighted fire just screws up the muscle memory you spend all of those hours developing.
The uninformed often cite the low hit ratio of trained law enforcement officers involved in shootings, but you should see the ratio the gang banger types have. In my experience it's in the fractions of percentage points-if you're only counting the hits on their intended target.
