YES. If anything is recovered, you will need a police report. Also, if they catch the guy, it will help to increase the punishment.

Did you ask the manager if he has any video of the area you parked? Worth a chance - heck I bet it was one of the employees.

I can not add more than what guys have already said but to just say it is not your fault ! Thief's are the fault not you and if we used punishment more in this country you could leave your doors unlocked and not worry......
    Blame them not you.

Don't file an insurance claim. For $200 worth of stuff, it isn't worth it. I am guessing that it is under your deductible (most of the items would probably fall under your homeowners policy anyway).

Its not your fault at all. Theives are scum of the earth and the good people shouldn't have to go to any extremes to have what they work for. I just hate how things have gotten. I lock just about everything in the trunk when I am in the Camaro....and hide everything I can when I drive the Escape. My daughter realized the other day that her Tom Tom was missing. People are just crap sometimes.

Someone who steals from others is the scum of the earth......I actually like how some countries other than ours handle a convicted thief. you steal... you lose parts of your body..such as fingers.

Hey, If you're accusing me, I won't stand for it. I swear that I didn't do it. I wasn't there and you won't find any of your stuff at the local pawn shops! You're accusing the wrong person and I feel terrible about it. My concious can't handle this, but I didn't do it, I swear it!!

Thank you for not saying that you were robbed.

There is a difference between burglary and robbery.

Just one of the pet peeves accumulated over twenty years in law enforcement.

Also in some states there is a difference (from a vehicle) if the vehicle was locked or not, between theft and burglary.

Not that any of this helps you, but file a police report anyway, it helps to recover stolen property.

UPDATE: I called Famous Footwear last night and told them we had a pair of LUGZ shoes stolen in size 9 1/2 and to please let the Vestal Police know if anyone came in with a pair to return ... Well.. low and behold some * bag walks in today with my shoes and a copy of my receipt and tries to return them. .Famous Footwear clerk calls police and they arrest the guy .. Guy claims he was given the shoes by a friend to take back.. He cant recall the friends name ..I also asked the cops to search the guys car for my other stuff but apparently he was dropped off there and didnt know the guys name that dropped him off..Loks like in 2 months or more I will atleast get my SHOES back.. Paid $64.99 for them so atleast thats something !!

Viewmont is not too bad, very safe. Steamtown is the homie mall. I am always accompanied by Messrs. Smith and Wesson when we go there.

Good work on getting the shoes back, and getting the slimeball busted.

Notice how the cops didn't tell you to report theft to the stores involved.

Cops don't give a crap about these burglaries.

About 2 years ago my friends house was broken into. They caught the guys. When they went for bond my friend tried to post it. The judge would not let him. They were scared for a very long time.[:p][:p]

Will an insurance company pay up if the car was left unlocked?
    What's next?

I agree w/Duce. It's NOT your fault! Their's scumbags that just roam lots looking for unlocked cars. Just hoping they have merchindice in them, or just to rifle the glove box/ console for loose change, cd's, dvd's, guns or cameras. Sucks, but even if locked, some will pop a window to get at your stuff.
Sorry about u'r loss, but U need to report it, like the others said, to maybe recover some of u'r stuff.
