Bowling Pin Shoot, Paris, Texas

I went to my first shooting match in a long time that wasn't a police qualification this morning. Paris PD's Police Athletic League and the Maxey Gun Club outside of Paris, Texas, sponsored a pin shoot to raise money for the PAL. It was open to all comers, but only a dozen or so showed up.
It was a lot of fun. There were 6 plates shaped like bowling pins and two actual pins on a table. All targets were about 10 yards away. Against a clock, you had to knock all the plates down and clear the pins off the table. Everybody got to shoot the course three times and the best time was counted.
My first run was a fluke. I got all 8 targets with 9 shots in 12.19 seconds and it was the best score of the day. I got progressively slower after that, so I was glad they took the best run and not an aggregate. I was shooting my issue SIG 229, .40 caliber with Remington Golden Sabres.
An old buddy of mine also went. He shot his first two runs with a pair of .44 single actions. He said he was in it for the fun, and I guess he meant it. Those pins really move with a center hit from a 240 grain .44 slug. His third run he went just a bit more modern and used his .45 USP.
I say my first run was flukish, because the second was 16 something and used up all 13 rounds, and the third was over 25 seconds and I had to reload to finish.
The Paris PD and Maxey GC guys said they might try to throw such a shoot every month. I believe I will go again.
