I jsut picked up a kershaw chive, yea like the onion...It is pretty small, but I guess there is a larger one.It is pretty neat, has a torsion opened blade, many people think it is a switch blade, but it isnt. Also have caried a spyderco delica alot, it is also the knife that is responisble for the 10 stickes in my trigger finger a few years back. Also cary a spyderco rescue when I want something a little bigger.

benhmade clip's are some of the best on the market. they tend to be a little pricey, but well worth it to me. i have carried one for years and they stand behind their product. check out the forum on their page. www.benchmade.com

I carry a Schrade "Uncle Henry" and it has been good to me. Nothin' fancy but it holds a nice edge.

Gerber E-Z out has been very good to me. I use this knife daily, stay sharp, and is easy to sharpened. We have twelve guys in our crew, four of them have gone to this knife. This knife can be found for around $34.00.

I have carried a Benchmade AFCK everyday for about the last three years or so,bought it used and it still works great.I have had to replace the clip screws once and always retighten evey 6-8 months with red locktight.Im a fairly big guy in the construction trade so the clip gets a good work out.Blade sharpens up easily with a wet stone.

Spyderco Mariner edition. It's not black but the serrated edge is razor sharp and they will sharpen to factory edge for free upon return.

The smallest Swiss Army made...backed up with a .40 caliber Glock. When I need a bigger knife I go to a 45 caliber Glock.

Would have to be a Spyderco Native or a Benchmade Mel Pardue.

I'm using a Kershaw "Ken Onion" Whirlwind non-serrated blade 3 1/4". I have no idea who this Onion fellow is but the knife is great.P.S. The early production run of this knife will allow the blade to contact the metal bolster when closing, thus damaging the edge. Kershaw will gladly fix this and promptly return the knife, as they did for me.

Every day you will find a Spyderco Clipit Endura with a full serrated edge in my right pants pocket at work or otherwise. It is a very tough knife that will cut through just about anything within reason. It is light but rugged. Try one and you'll see why I like mine so much.

Gerber E-Z OUT. Carried it for about 6 years. You understand, of course, that bikers are required to carry a knife. It's an unwritten law. Mudge the slasher

How much are you lookin' to spend? What'll it be used for?If your answers are A) Less than the cost of an 8mm Mauser; and B) Everyday chores, then I recommend a Schrade Liner Lock. 3", half serrated blade, drop-point, pocket clip, holds an excellent edge - easy on the pocket book ('specially if you lose it), and you won't be afraid to use it.

I agree with the keychain version of the swiss army knife. Its got scissors, tweezers, toothpick, nailfile, screwdriver and a sharp blade.Ever since boy scout age I really havent seen any need for carrying a large knife. I can whittle or gut fish and small game or cut cardboard or string better with a small pocket knife. This fancy, expensive belt knife craze suggests they might be viable self defense weapons. Just look at published statistics on self defense with knives. THEY DONT WORK unless you're an acrobatic Ninja Judo expert. They do though, give you a false sense of security and maybe that illusion of security is all that is really necessary for peace of mind. Should the need for self defense arise, a knife is in no way a substitute for a gun when it comes down to real cases.

In my experience-When you really NEED to cut something, one hand is already busy doing something else. Whatever you get, make it a one handed type.Mine's a Benchmade Mini-Reflex auto knife carried where it can be reached with either hand.[This message has been edited by Txs (edited 02-28-2002).]
