The guys at animal control had this young pigeon, and didn't
know how to take care of it, so it was starving. Dawnie
offered to take it off their hands, so now she has a pigeon.
At least they TOLD her it is a pigeon.
Can't prove it by me. All I know is it is UGLY.
Dawnie even had trouble getting it to eat.
That is, until she started feeding it like a mother pigeon.
I asked her, "Doesn't the mother pigeon regurgitate food from
her crop?" She didn't swallow the food and bring it back up,
but she found this method works.

The pigeon is OK, too.
That's a vulture...
That's what I thought too, but if Dawnie says it's a pigeon, it's a pigeon. [:D]

Yep, about 2 and 1/2 weeks would be my guess. I raised them when I was a young fellow, but that was so blame long ago, I have forgotten most of what I once knew about them.

That Lowerys seasoning is going to come in handy with that bird.[:p]
An eye dropper works better than the method you are using right now, and also easier to see how much the baby is taking....
THere are different sized eye droppers, so one with a larger hole works best...
I dont know what kind of bird it is all i know is that it was starving at the shelter and now it has a chance and seems to be doing fine..
we will keep everyone updated.
Eye Dropper works ok, but a well trimmed syringe can make it real easy as long as you don't over stuff the crop or squirt too much into their mouth at a time.
Too ugly for anything else
My vote is that its a buzzard.
Too ugly for anything else

Ever hear of psittacosis (did I spell it right?)
Use mitten/glove painted up to look like a proper bird mom, and use eyedropper or chopstix for beak of "Mom"!
An acquaintance of mine lost her son to the disease.
Sure...... whats in the GB coozie?
If you don't have your own GB Coozie then your not kewl!
I got mine with my GB T shirt.

Notice how only those who have raised them have any idea what a baby pigeon even looks like? You never see little baby ones in the wild because they go from hatchlings to full size very quickly due to this highly nutritious feed. They'll weigh about the same as their parents by the time they leave the nest.
