More Glock Discussion ...

Continuing the discussion that Gene started in reference to a full auto Glock ... because I am having trouble accessing that thread at the moment -Gene, first thing, firearms ownership is no place for paranoia. I doubt very seriously that you or I would ever be shot, however if it should ever happen I will be more concerned with the fact that I was indeed shot, not what I was shot with. How about you?Second, a wee bit technical but nonetheless, a Glock Model 18 is not legal for a civilian to own in this country so your point there is quite moot. However, if it were to be legal, and you chose not to want one, what right do you have to make that choice for your neighbor? Consider that owning something such as a full auto Glock, if it were legal to do so, needs not have an actual purpose in a free country ... similar to the monitor that you're viewing right now ... because frankly, you don't need that either, but you have it.You are succeeding in clouding your views with the blanket of intent, *loosen* the blanket.*Edit* (Grrrr T!)

Matthew - unless I made a mistake I do believe nunn or Admin deleted that thread - might be why you had such a hard time getting into it.Oh and it's "lose" not "loose" okay?

I believe that you may be correct, it may have been lost due to technical difficulties. I was in the middle of a reply when it happened because when I got done it was gone.

In my point of view a Glock 17, converted to full auto is a Glock 18. I would love to have a Glock 18, but if they were made legal every gangbanger in the USA would have one, and the cops wouldnt stand a chance since it shoots about 1600 rounds per minute, thats about about 27 rounds a secound, that means me or you or a cop could have 27 rounds of 9mm ammo in us, while we probley got one shoot off at the bad guy, thats why only cops, military, and the FBI, etc. should have them. I just dont want to go up agianst a "bad guy" with a full auto Glock unless I can have one too.[This message has been edited by Gene B. (edited 11-20-2001).]

Gene, turn around and look up .... there went the entire issue. The criminals you refer to have no regard for the law, that's why they are criminals. They (some) already have full auto.

Gene: Let me know where to buy one of those 1600 round magazines that the bad guys are gonna have. I have been carrying a concealed weapon for over forty years and have never fired a shot, off duty, even here in the crime capitol of the world. Get real lad! FBI statistics tell us that the average gunfight is within 7 yards and four to five shots. Lighten up buddy, you'll be OK. LOL.

E-bay isnt making it harder for them to get that kind of info. Almost no gangsters have full autos, they mostly carrie very small guns so if the cops come they can easy hide it somewhere, its mostly drug lords and the mafia.

Dano, thanks....it wasn't always easy I can tell you. I once pulled a guy over and said to him "have you been drinking, your eyes are bloodshot", and he said to me, "have you been eating donuts, your eyes are glazed. Glock on Brother!-Charlie

gene, paranoia will destroy ya. lol you are trying to make the same points that the rest of the anti's are. Only cops need full auto's ? whats next any gun thats not a single shot? You know someone with a sendero such as yours could really cause some proplems you might need to outlaw those also. If I had to choose I think I would take my chances with a drug lord with a full auto glock than one well placed shot from a sendero from say 500 meters. And back to the real world I will probably never see neither.Just Venting through all the smoke and mirrors. ThE nUt

One might make the point that full auto does indeed have a place in our free society. I know that if I was the victim of a gang home invasion where a large number of armed gang members enter at the same time, I would prefer to have full auto.

All magazine fed full autos have going for them is the tendency to run dry just when you really need a few more rounds. Now, belt fed and crew served, that is another story.Only the rounds that hit count.JMHO.

twins - somehow I don't think we're going to get a real answer to that particular question. Not that it matters though all things considering.

I would give you the answer gladly, but if I did this thread would also get lost.

Maybe I can stir the pot.(And maybe get this post deleted!)Gene,The only reason we have "gangs" is because of the drug trade. The only reason why the drug trade is profitable if because drugs are illegal.De-criminalize drugs and most of the gang activity will just go away--along with a whole lot of robbery and property crimes (which are normally committed by those needing money to buy drugs). The illegal status of drugs makes them expensive; if legal, most drug addicts could buy their poisons for a few pennies per fix. They'd have little need to resort to violence to get the money they need now. There would not be the extreme profit margins in the trade which motivates the "turf wars" between rival drug dealing gangs.

I have to disagree with that logic. Legalizing illegal activity is not a solution by any means.Gangs will always exsist, drugs or no drugs.

In some states (32 I think) if you are willing to pay the fees you can buy full auto. In my home state there is a class three smith that will build you a full auto Glock.Gun $600Work $500Tax Stamp $500Now if you want it with a silencerWork $300Tax Stamp $500When I was there on recruiting duty he would take me along for test firing's. Full auto is alway's fun but in a hand gun it is not very practicle, not easy to get lots of rounds where you want them. Typicaly on a standard B-27 one round guts one center one head (maybe) rest off so controled bursts are the way to go. But full auto in a hand gun is not worth much to me. I will keep that feature in my issue guns but it just uses a ton of ammo.
