flash hider/suppressor

I have a Polytechnologies M14 with a "flash hider". Is that different from a "flash suppressor"? This is a question about California legality.

    No. Basically, if the function of the "flash hider" is to reduce or suppress the amount of observed flash coming out of the end of the barrel, then the only difference as far as California law is concerned is in semantics.

    If you're trying to find out whether or not the rifle is SB23 compliant, then the answer is no.

    Thanx for the answers, guys. Let's go one step farther. Let's say I take the suppressor off the rifle. Is it illegal to possess one; off the rifle?
