We need to work out a deal for everyone to take eachother hunting for game that we do not get a chance to hunt everyday. That would be awesome. I think it is a good idea, but who knows. I dunno, i just got a wild hair up my * and crazy ideas are flowing through my head. Let me know what you guys think.

29 Palms has plenty of desert ground squirrels. Who's in? (Ground squirrel-a squirrel to stupid to live where trees grow.)

I think that this is a great idea. My uncle lives in southern New Mex. and he hooked me up with a friend of his for a trade on an Ibex hunt for me if he could come to kansas and shoot a flint hills white tail. I did not shoot an Ibex, they are located on,around, that military base near white sands, i am currently having a brain fart and can not remember the name of the army base. He did harvest a nice 11 point whitetail though, I thought that the trade was worth it.songdog

Well, i guess this wasnt a stupid idea, or you guys just are being nice and not telling me what a dumb-* i am. Here is South East Kansas, we have an abundance of white-tails and goblers, some pretty good quail hunting, but not as good as it use to be. Dove season is always pretty decent but the ducks have dwindled alot over the past few years. Lots of coyotes and bobcats. As for fishing, the world record flathead was caught out of our Lake (Elk City Lake), and the crappie fishing is always pretty good. Just thought i would fill you guys in on some of the activities around Independence.

I am north west of FT Worth about 45 minutes, I haven't been getting to hunt this month, seems in my employers infinite wisdom, they moved me to nights till after the first of the yr, so we'll have to do it then, and as a note to all, these are considered varmints or nuisiance(?) animals and can be hunted yr round day or night, they mostly/only show up at night so we'll have to plan it all out.

I've hunted pheasant and have also tried my luck with deer and turkey (unsuccessfully so far). I would give my left arm (after the hunt) in order to give a go at a wild hog.

In New Mexico most of the hunts are draw hunts, but some over-the-counter permits are available for mulies including for non-residents. I would be happy to help with some area information for any that want to give it a try here.

I think that is one of the best Ideas I've seen.SongDog, you are on to somthing, I my younger days several people came up here and went antilope hunting, In fact 2 were from the Beringham Pistol Parlor, in your country,The base in NM is White Sands, Let's kick this around.

yea, that white sands thing was pretty weird. I would not call that hunting, it was more of a killing type of thing. there was no hunting involved. This is how it works, These animals are extremely dangerous when they are threatened. Most animals run away when they feel threatened, but not ibex. Thewy get pissed and charge. Well this is how that hunt worked. The military boys wouyld drive you around until you saw a ibex that you would like to shoot. Once3 you found that ibex, they would wait for you to pull the trigger then two other mils. would shoot the split second after The "hunter" shoots. Putting three holes in the animal. I do not think that i would do this again, I thought that it was not sporty enough for me. Plus the cost about made me crap my draws. But once in a lifetime deal.I would trade anything kansas style for damned near any type of hunt. songdog

Uh excuse me Mr beachmaster sir? Am I missing something? Whats with the (back to the top) thing. On a bunch of your recent posts that's in there. If anyone is interested I could be found available for steelhead fishing on the Klamath river. Have boat will travel. A Mckenzie river drift boat trip down the Klamath is pretty fun. We also have Blacktail but the terrain is pretty steep and the hunting is tough, but if one were so inclined a combo hunting/fishing trip is a good way to go.

Every time someone adds a post to the thread it moves that thread to the top of the thread list. The threads are listed in order of most recently updated. Sending something back to the top is a way of keeping a topic going...How's that Beach?

These are domestics gone wild, I guess feral, I killed 2 about a month ago and netted 693 lbs of meat, some of them run big, most around 150-250lbs, they have 4000 plus acres to hide out on that is restricted from hunting, I wish we could go in there during the day for a brush hunt, would be fun!

Up here In kansas at ft. Riley, the wild hogs are unhuntableas well. They live on the missle range and there are live warheads there that "could" explode at any time. There was a time when the hogswere getting so numerous that the military was using them for targets. Doing helicopter training on them and that sort of stuff. That would be fun. Flying around in an apache and smoking hogs with a couple of 50 cal. machine guns and a few rockets every now and then when the hogs are herded up.songdog

ghotie-i am enamored of your gig...how's the run up the klamath?...is it true that you cannot fish "broodstream" water? are the fly guys mostly two-handers? do you, drool, catch a lot...unfortunately i have nothing to trade anyone but cold cash(meaning air temp pennies that i see on the street)and the wit that has started a thousand barfights...it would break your heart to see the water that i fish, tho there are alot of them...anyway, thanks for posting such a cool thing...

I'd trade an Iowa Turkey or Whitetail hunt (includes food and lodging at Lord Rembrandt's Hunting Lodge), for an Elk hunt with either bow or gun....
