Exploring the lunatic fringe

As some of you may know, I often take a look at websites on the lunatic fringe of society. I constantly pick on the vegans and vegetarians, but this question that I copied takes the freaking cake!Quote:I have a question for all of you other veg*ns out there. I'm a recent vegan, and look forward to growing my own veggies when my family plants our yearly vegetable garden. However, my dad recently informed me that he plans to use some of our neighbor's steer's manure as fertilizer for our garden. My first reaction was, "Well, I guess it would be vegan if the cows were treated alright." But then my dad informed me that our neighbor raises steers and sells them to only-the-Lord-knows-who, presumably for slaughter. (We recently moved in, that's why I didn't know much about the neighbors.) So my main question is this: are vegetables and/or fruits that were grown in soil fertilized by cow manure vegan? Can I eat them in good conscience? I mean, there's no way my dad is going to change his mind, not unless I have a fantastic argument and some good alternative. But if it's ok then I won't have to worry about changing his mind.
