Ventura Advocates Gun Law DebateInterest Could Be High In 2002Posted: 8:13 a.m. CDT October 9, 2001ST. PAUL -- Gov. Jesse Ventura said that last month's terrorist attacks could add a new dimension to a debate over a bill that would make it easier for Minnesotans to carry guns in public. Gun Law Revisited? Ventura said that the bill could be fairly high on the legislative agenda in February. Only the Senate stood in the way of changes to the concealed-carry gun law last session. The changes would have limited discretion that local police use to deny permits. It also would allow most law-abiding, mentally competent adults who pass a background check and undergo training to get one. Ventura supports loosening permit rules for non-criminals who complete gun-safety training and skills testing. http://www.channel4000.com/news/ventura/news-ventura-100860820011009-081016.html
