Found this on AK-47 board,evidently semi auto AK's are illegal in Pakastan so their blacksmiths convert them.This is from a CNN story on the arms of Pakistan;

    Apparently there are families of craftsmen in Pakistan and Afghanistan that have, for generations, made very high quality weapons.Maybe some of these will turn up on our surplus market as the war progresses...

    I saw the show on CNN and it was absolutely a bolt action.I guess it is too much work to have to remove the gas tube assembly and refashion a receiver cover to accomodate the bolt.Much easier and faster to manufacture to just replace semi-auto action with a bolt and rig the back end of receiver to take it.I watched him remove the bolt on the show and I have been known to own an AK or two(or more ) and that was without a doubt a bolt action AK,no mistaking it,no way,no how.

    Now the only question is.. If any of them show up here in the states, will you need a post-ban or pre-ban magazine for it? Or maybe they convert them to use sks magazines while they are at it.

    The Brits make a bolt action AR-15! And brag that they can shoot 7 aimed rounds in a minute! I still don't understand why they would shoot up their allotted years supply of ammo in a minute though....

    I wouldnt own one. If you buy one, be sure to wear your shooting glasses, just in case, the plug flys out of the gas tube...and hits you right in the eye...HA!...
