C&R License to be Confiscated

Well, that didn't take long. According to New Jersey law the BATF must notify the NJ State Police when they issue a federal license to a citizen of NJ. You see, NJ is the only state in the Union that does not recognize a federal license. That citizen then has 30 days to come into compliance with NJ law which requires the federal licensee to apply for and recieve a NJ gun dealers license. In order to do that, the licensee must pay a $350.00 per year fee and open a store front business engaging in the buying and selling of guns. If you do not qualify, or choose not to open a business, the NJ State Police will confiscate your federal license.I said it before and I'lll say it again, you gotta love NJ -Charlie the about to be confiscated

I still do not Freakin' get it! A C&R is to be able to recieve firearms at your home and enhance your personal collection. A C&R is not a license for re-sale or the commercial distribution of firearms. So therefore, why would the State of NJ require you to have a state re-sale license, when that's not the intent at all????????????????WHO THE HELL IS THE STATE TO CHOOSE NOT TO RECOGNIZE FEDERAL LICENCES????AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!*Matt45 slumps foward on his keyboard, gray matter leaking from his ear all over the desk*

States rights are SUPPOSED to be superior to the Feds, except for those powers specifically designated by the constitution. At least, thats how the document reads- but who cares about that?Unfortunately, NJ is wrong. Scratch one more state off the list of places to move.NJRETCOP, I always wondered: if you lose/give up/ have confiscated you C&R liscence, do you keep the items you acquired while you had it?Carl

cpileri- Right on! I am always pleased when a state takes its proper constitutional position, and says to hell with the unconstitutional federal law, we are doing things our way. However, I am never happy when a state decides to clamp down on its citizens. But then again, that is the price you pay when you live in a state that does not trust its citizens."You get what you pay for" comes to mind.SORRY CHARLIE.

As a "njretcop" don't you have "special" rights and privileges that the rest of the "mere mortals" in the State do not possess? You can't call someone with "influence" who can make sure you keep your license?

Charlie,As we discussed earlier, it is a federalcrime to "deal" with a C&R. Also remember, that Evan told me "you can beat this in court for $20-30K" The best thing I didregarding guns & NJ was to give up my C&Rcause now they need a warrant to get myguns, barring a domestic violence accusation, and since I live alone, violence aint aproblem. If you don't play their game, they'llmake your life miserable. Besides, a C&R isa liability when you find that little oldwidow who wants to get rid of her husband'sguns and don't care about paper. Whateveryou do, I wish you luck and remember, hegets $500 an hour whether he's in courtor sitting in his office.jo
