Went to the farm this weekend, retrieved the steps the scumbags had stolen from our tree stand....then proceeded to leave their tree stand in place, only about 10' higher than what they had it and no way to get to it...left a laminated note nailed to their tree: "So, you need steps for your stand bad enough to steal them? We Know who you are, we have your license plate number, it's now in the hands of the County Sheriff and Conservation Officers. It's slob hunters like you that give hunting an ugly reputation"A couple of our neighboring property owners and myself went to talk to these two guys, they of course denied taking them or having any knowlege....we let them know they are the prime suspects and they are being watched by property owners and the law...a little later they packed up their camp and high tailed it to parts unknown in a hurry. They seemed a little shook and had trouble getting their story put together. Don't think we'll see these jokers for a while.....

Maybe they was framed..and you and that linch mob scared them to the point that they feared you`d hang them...That compounded by the fear that there are thieves, and possibly worse, in them parts.Maybe that`s why they high tailed it!~Bee Man Of Alcatraz~

No lynch mob, no violence, and no threats....just a statement of fact that they are the prime suspects and are being watched. What their conscience leads them to do next....is of their own doing. Always amazes me that that the people you have the most problems with are the ones that own no land, (but act like they do), pay no taxes on the property they hunt....just take from the "food baskets" of others, giving nothing back in return.

Lost a couple of tree stands when a group of hunters (sic) leased the land next to where I hunt. Well, I had a defective tree stand ( after about 20 min. work) that I needed to keep in a safe place. I decided to store it about 12' up a tree on the property line. Darned if it didn't come up missing the first weekend it was out there. Hope whoever stole it weighs under 50lbs or they may have some problems. Don't have much use for theives....

Longish story I don't have time to tell correctly, but here's the gist of it:I grew up on a farm in Chester County PA.No rifle hunting for deer in that county.A neighbor came onto our posted land, knowing he in particular was NOT welcome, and set up a hide to poach deer. My Dad was there waiting when he snuck in... tossed a few M-80's under his butt. The guy jumped and ran... leaving his rifle behind. My dad, being the kinda guy he was, took it to the chief detective of the local PD, a friend of his. Told him the story.A few days later the bad guy reports his rifle stolen and names my Dad as suspect. The detective has the guy come in, and calls my dad too. The guy claims to officer his story... and the officer asks my dad if he has anything to say.Dad says "Nope, already told my piece two days ago, about a day before this guys says I robbed him". Then the detective pulls out the two day old police report and proceeds to have a 'discussion' with the guy.Best part... the jerk reported the rifle as stolen to his insurance.... which he promptly lost and got charged with insurance fraud... and lost the insurance on his business too becuase of the fraud... ended up costing him BIG TIME $$$.I still laugh about that incident...GOD I miss my Dad.
