There is always a lot of banter about who is a faithful follower of what brand of scope when the question of optics arises. This is often based on several very positive personal experiences and the reputation that a manufacturer has within the optics industry. One name that I never hear mentioned is Millett. Does anyone have any personal experience with Millett scopes (red dot scopes specifically)? I was perusing the latest issue of Shooting Times (a relatively new NRA publication) and ran across their ad so I checked out their website. I am interested in a red dot scope where I can adjust the size of the dot to meet the demands of the situation. I like the idea of this type of optic for my Mossberg 835 because I can use it for turkey and then swap the barrel and adjust the size of the dot for deer. Are there any takers when it comes to Millett optics?

Idsman, Glad to see that you're still able to type after your "schoolday"! Anyway, Get yourself a Holosight!!! No adjustments needed other than if you want to make the dot brighter or dimmer! 1MOA@ 100yds!!! How much finer do you want it? GHD

I would like to have a red dot sight that allows you to adjust the size of the dot. It's just personal preference. Millett anyone?

    Let the PVM ride!

The 9th through the 11th? Hmm...gotta double-check the training schedule. I think those are the days that lead right up to our squad training exercise. I can't remember if that's when we head to the field or if those are the days where we prep for the field. I'll find out and get back with you on the telephone this weekend.

I have Millet SP-1's on a hunting handgun, an AR 15, and a lever action carbine. The SP-1 is not a variable red dot, just the intensity is variable. Further, the SP-1 has a 3 minute dot. This is fine for 75 yard shots and under. Since you are going to put it on a shotgun, I do not suggest going with a 1 minute red dot, I don't think you like it.

I have to say I really like my Millets. As a good friend put it "It is like cheating. It is so easy to hit what your aiming at, even while on the run."

ids.....I've been touting the qualities of the Millett sights for some time now. I've got two, one on my Browning Target Buckmark for bullseye and hunting, the other on my SRH 44. I recently had a problem with the one on the Ruger. The dot "moved" to the upper left area of the scopes view and couldn't be adjusted. I sent the scope in with a cover letter stating the circumstances under which it failed. In less than two weeks I recieved a brand new scope with lens covers and shade extender, although I had said in my letter I had kept these items from shipment. I called the customer service people to thank them for such great service. They actually seemed sorry it happened in the first place. I was told if I ever have a problem with any Millett product they'll take care of it. It's true the dot isn't adjustable for size, just intensity. There are 11 levels of brightness, and the batteries last a very long time. I'm going on two years now with my target gun. Several guys at our club use Millets, while others love those Halosights.....both seem to have a good following. If you do choose a Millett might I suggest the 30mm model over the one inch? It does give quite a bit more field of view without being too bulky. I use the 1" because that's the size of rings my Ruger came with. Either way I'm sure you'd be happy with them.
