I'm considering either a hi-cap LDA ParaOrdnance .45 or an H&K USP variant in hii-cap .45 for my next purchase. Would appreciate the wisdom of the board on both choices. Please feel free to be thorough.

    Offeror,

I have an H&K USP, a Para LDA 7.45 and a Para LDA 14.45. I can only offer my experiences with each.

I love the H&K, but I'm a reloader and like +P+ ammo. I am a little leary of using that ammo in the USP since they too have a unsupported chamber and have had some kabooms. For regular shooting, it's accurate and reliable. A very good gun overall.

I first bought the Para LDA 14.45 because I am a 1911 lover, but don't like carrying locked and loaded. The LDA is not a true double action in the way that the previous slide rack precocks the mainspring so there is no pull needed to cock it during the first shot. It is, however, styled to function in a double action mode, and does so very well. I took me about 500 round to get comfortable with the trigger, but once I did, I loved the gun. High-cap with the punch of my favorite cartridge. I then bought the 7.45 for carrying in an inside the pant holster. The 14.45 was a little too bulky. I love both guns, and carry the 14.45 when I can use the shoulder holster. Otherwise, I carry the 7.45. I would recommend the Para over the H&K if you plan to use high velocity ammo, but I would recommend you rent and shoot the Para before you decide.

Let us know how you go.
