I think Ron Paul is the best hope. Given an A rating by the NRA.

With some of the stuff the NRA has given thier blessing to here lately I have lost most of my faith in anything they say!

That may be true but his policies are actually realistic and I like how he wants to get back to how the constitution was originally meant for. Plus he wants to get rid of the IRS!

I'm voting for Fred Thompson! I saw him on TV and he totally put these criminals in NYC in jail. They'd killed this woman on the subway, and Fred Thompson sent this man and this woman to the trial and the ciminals went to jail! And, one time he helped find this Russian sub that was coming to America! I tell you what, Fred Thompson knows about the Soviet navy nd how to deal with it! I'm voting for Fred Thompson!

I too got his thinking, but I am not baseing my opinion upon his TV program! Hell, I do not think I have ever even watched it and could not even tell you what program that he is on (even though I do know he is on one of them popular ones)!

I stricktly like his thinking and do believe he will stand firm on his beliefs!

I'm not real excited about Fred's announcement, there's more to him than meets the eye. What he says, and how he voted are very different on border policy.

Take a look at who he picked for his campaign manager! [:0]

While I don't know enough about Thompson's opinions to pass judgement, the other top contenders in the race are not conservative. Romney, McCain and Rudy are really conservative democrats in my mind.

Unfortunately. Paun, and Hunter are second teir candiates that are not being considered by anyone. These guys are potenetial VP candiates.

Newt is too much of a loose cannon to be considered a VP.

I have researched Fred's position on Amendment II and can't support him for POTUS. Big government type who is fine with restricting the Constitution. Talks good, acts differently that his spoken positions. Go figure.[V]

I understand some of the "thought process", but I just can't throw my vote away, and essentially help Hillary to get elected.
No matter the bad points,.........and I DO understand, about Thompson, concerning the second amendment, I will still vote for him, unless he turns out to be less than I expect.
I WILL NOT help Hillary become POTUS!
She may anyway, but I wish no part of it.

Mickey Mouse, or someone who will follow the constitution if anybody that "radical" is on the ballot.

Mickey Mouse won't be on the ballot. You expect perfection. Nobody is going to be 100% to your liking. You have to make the best choice of who is running.

Uh, I was being facetious with the Mickey Mouse comment. I will probably have to write someone in though.

Nope, I don't expect perfection. There was only one perfect man and we killed him.

I do however, expect that the POTUS should support and defend the Constitution of the United States, not some socialist, globalist, freedom snatching version that is changed to suit the "current trends".

My country, my constitution, my freedoms and my liberties. None of these should EVER be compromised, period. My vote, my choice.

I don't want to get back into the whole "lesser of two evils" or the "our turd is better than their turd" discussion. I recently posted at very great length on that very topic, on this and the politics forum.

My position is clear, my conscience is clear, my course is set[;)]. That course is to NEVER willingly accept less than the US Constitution spells out and to NEVER support someone who espouses contrary views or positions.

Their will never be a perfect canidate! And if you want to vote a person who can win and still retain any of your rights then Thompson is your man!

How about a REALLY revolutionary thought ?
Do the Right thing...vote for a man stoutly defending the Constitution...then gird your loins and prepare to FIGHT for 4 years while the 'other guys garbage' tries to dismantle everything you hold dear ?

No...I guess not...you'all would rather get 'your guy' in...then rest, as HE dismantles everything you hold dear....yet you continue to stoutly defend 'your guy'...because to admit he TOO is garbage forces YOU to admit you made a mistake...

In Freds case, just like all these old farts with young "hotties", it's not persuasive speaking skills, it's persuasive $$$$. You can't really believe these young babes actually like to get down and dirty with these droopy old age spotted fossils? It's a tribute to their dedication to gold digging that they can even physically respond to these "studs".

Paul would be the best in that area, yet he will refuse to fight and defend the country of that constitution unless the fight is on or soil. I don't ever want it to get to our soil, therefor, I can't support him.

Hunter seems to be as solid on the constitution, and much stronger on defense and being proactive on the war on terrorism and taking the fight to them on their soil. He also wants the fence built, and the border secure. Today, he has my vote.
