1: Do you trust the government?
2: Do you beleive the government is headed toward taking away the constitution a piece at a time till it's all gone?
3: Will you sacrifice your life to protect the constitution against tyranny?
I will start.

We are on the threshold of a future that is being turned by those as McCain/ Feingold who have no respect for our constitution and are, in fact, a link to tyranny by the admission of their "campain finance reform bill". The constitution is LAW. If we break the law, we go to jail- if politicians break the law- nothing! The people used to have the POWER, No more! We have NO POWER! We are nothing but peasants!
Don't tell me we can vote them out- when all politicians are corrupt, voting will only elect corruption! It isn't that bad now - but just wait- IT WILL HAPPEN!

I believe that some people within the gov't would like to take away all constitution rights, however there is just as many in the gov't that would fight to maintain your constitutional rights.
I spent 21 years in the military to protect my and your constitutinal rights.

No! The framers of the constitution let us know we are to never trust the government.
Yes.To an extent.I don't think there is one group whose sole desire is
to tear-up the constitution, but several different groups and individuals within and outside our government that change,or try
to change parts of the constitution to fit their agendas. It kind of like 20 surgens with different opinions
about how to cure the patient, all
operating on that patient at the same time.
Yes!If there is overt acts of tyranny performend against the people,
with no reprisals,or consequenses to the government agency by the
powers that be,or a breakdown in the system of checks-and-balances.

Not fully, for some things I do.

No, but there are certainly interests that are attempting to force positions I do not agree with.

I hope so, probably none of us will really know until that day.

you know what is really sad? I think America is so very weak and most of our people are spoiled brats. I'm almost too humiliated to say I am American. The only reason I can still say it is because of all you guys and gals. I am not alone.

    no, no, yes.

The government, by virtue of the fact that it has secrets and holds elements of the citizenry (who are law abiding) as potential threats, is not meant to be totally trusted. Just the fact of a two party system means you can't trust the government when your party isn't in power. And even smart people are prone to disagreement. But I don't believe the government is committed to dismantling the whole constitution. But they are fond of trying to change it to their personal liking, and luckily the founders made that VERY hard to do.

I feel there are things worth putting one's life at risk for. But I agree with General Patton that my first preference is not to die for my country, but to make the other poor dumb * die for his. And that includes threats from within and without.

Do I trust government? Absolutely! Government is doing what's always been done and our founders warned us not to allow it to happen.

Do I think government is trying to take away our constitutional rights? Absolutely not! We're the ones guilty of allowing our rights to diasppear.

Would I stand up and fight for my freedoms? No! I'm already standing up and I'll be the first to put a round in anyone who wishes to force the issue. Mind you, I'm not looking for a fight, but I won't back away frome one.

Before we get too much bravado on #3, for all who answered "yes" to #3: What is your line in the sand? In other words, what in the likely future would cause you to be ready to fight to the death, most likely your own? If this is a serious question, it deserves serious thought and a serious reply.

    From the Declaration of Independence:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

I'll be honest and say that I'm not sure where my line is exactly. It's somewhere between these two extremes: (1) Not allowing issue advocacy organizations to state their opinions on specific candidates prior to an election -- not my hill to die on. (2) Requiring all citizens and permanent residents to get an implanted ID biochip to "fight terrorism" -- I know I'm ready to buy the farm on that hill if necessary. So my line is somewhere between those two extremes. The first is here now. The second may come sooner than we think.
