The French want the UN to go in. I say let them have at it with the French troops taking point and the US out of it all together. We should just sit back wait for the UN to show its incompetance then go in and mop up.

I forgot. News figured they have 700-1000+ rebels. We sent in 50 marines. We should pull 25 marines out to make a good fight of it.

The French will not go into Haiti for fear that their butts will get whipped as they did in the very early 1800s! Haiti has been a free Black Nation since the 1790s and has been embroiled in conflict from within ever since! It;s presidents or dictators tend to take advantage of their positions to become wealthy while the rest of the people live in poverty. Our Marines went in to proyect our Embassy which by rightful international law is U.S. Soverign property as long as we occupy it. If the U.N. does send in troops, it will not be the first time nor will it be that last. There is no good solution as to solving Haiti's problems and the U.N. could not even solve a math equation that involves 2+2 IMHO.

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you.

Curious how Iraq was worthy of "liberation" from a tyrant, yet Haiti is not. Does one have to commit a certain amount of atrocities to be deemed worthy of regime change or does it boil down to natural resources and geopolitical importance?

Looks to me like they don't need any help. Looks like they have had a civil war and are defeating the tyrant. If he starts gasing them, then they need help.[;)]
