Colt Mustang Pocketlite ....

News from Shot Show '12 - Colt will put this handy little .380 pistol back into production.

C&P from another forum:

The Mustang Pocketlite uses an aluminum frame machined from plate, not cast, which keeps the weight down, weighing in at 12 _ ounces empty. The slide and barrel are machined from bar stock steel. Per Mark Fraher, a Senior Project Engineer for Colt who was at the SHOT booth, the new, modern machines at Colt's factory allow for a more accurate, and reliable pistol by keeping to known standards/tolerances. Also, Colt kept true to the older designs, allowing for the new gun parts to work in the old guns, and vice versa.

I've got a 9mm New Agent, with is roughly the same dimensions as the Defender.

I like my Agent......but the Mustang is my constant companion.

Probably true, and that is why I was holding on to them, but I've got next to nothing in them anyway, so I'm still good.

Now if they would just start cranking out Pythons and King Cobras again, maybe a commoner could afford to buy one! I am amazed at the price of Colt DA revolvers the past few years!

I've got two Mustangs but they are too nice (and valuable) to carry so they live in the safe. Now carry a LCP and M&P .40 instead, if it gets damaged or stolen won't loose any sleep over it

I have heard the Sig 238 was basically the same gun, any truth to that?

Bought a new .380 Govt Md. when they first came out. Still have it, and it looks NIB. Can't bring myself to carry and/or sell it!!

yep, been available since mid-september, but only now readily available.
colt brought them back after SIG introduced the p238 which is a colt mustang, built from the same specs as the original.
i have some of the original mustangs and always wondered why colt stopped production.
but colt has a long history of abandoning gun designs and having said designs become insanely popular.
so, colt brings back the .380 mustang.
and sig introduces the P938 which is a 9mm version of the mustang!!
    colt loses out again![B)]

    No safety on the original...

I've also got a few Pocket Nine's put away that I know they won't reproduce because of pattent issues. Don't have much in them either, and they are huge in the profit range now.
