Remove The Lifetime Ban On Guns For People Convicted Of Violent Crimes? http://www.vote.com/vote/47553240/

"If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege." - Arkansas Supreme Court, 1878

This is a poll I would expect to see in the Times - its not a simple poll (yes/no) question!

... A "YES" vote is to allow "convicts who had minor brushes with the law and have since become law-abiding citizens" to legally own firearms again.

    BUT

... A "NO" vote is to keep "people convicted of violent crimes" from having their firearms rights restored.

It seems to be there is a big difference between a "minor brushes with the law" and "people convicted of violent crimes"

Sad but true,in VA. if someone gets a restraining order against you youd better find a close friend to keep your guns until it expires. The true shame is any one can get a restraining order against you fairly easy here, all they have to do is speak to a Magistrate. It is very common when a couple splits up one dont want to be bothered by the other and there you go.Is this a violation of our rights yes,you have not been convicted or sometimes even been charged with a crime.Only a temporary restraining order,I hear unofficial reports its going to be challenged in Court,I hope its true!
