Enough with the kidnapped kids!

CNN just announced an Amber Alert for a 9 year old boy kidnapped in California this morning. Why did they notify me, here in Ga. Do they think the kidnapper is going to be driving into Ga on I-20 today? Every day for the past 4 months we have been beseiged by stories of kidnappings. There is talk of an "epidemic" of kidnappings. Yet FBI statistics show that last year about 100 kids were kidnapped and killed. There has been no increase in this number for the past 4 years. Last year, 4,000 kids were killed in accidents around the home, such as bicycle wrecks or drowning in a swimming pool, or drowning in a 5 gallon bucket. About 10,000 kids were killed last year in car wrecks. Your child is at much greater risk from riding his bicycle, or from riding in your car, than he is from kidnapping. Gosh, this bs media coverage makes the bs media coverage of the OJ trial look like the good old days.

    Allen, get out there on the side of the Interstate and keep those eyes peeled! He may be by at any moment! You will know him because he will be the only man with a young boy in his car.

    What the H### is wrong with these people,my heart mets for any Parent faced with such a terrible thing.I am glad we havve the Amber alerts it does seem to help Deter these horrible acts of sickness.

    Rugster-I didn't say I dislike the Amber Alert. I do like it. Put the alert on highway signs, put out the word on tv and the radio. The Amber Alert system was designed to be used within a 2 or 3 hundred mile radius of the site of the crime. The FBI says that 75% of the kidnap-murders occur within 4 hrs of the kidnapping, so the Alert must be issued immediately. But Rugster, to besiege us here 3000 miles away, 11 hours after the crime occurred, is media hype. This sensationalism is going to make a bunch of kids and parents needlessly paranoid.

    Did they do the operation, is the head dead yet?

    There just isn't much else going on important enough to report, you know like military activity over seas, or stock market problems and stuff. They need something that will catch the attention of the common two digit IQ...

    Having 2 daughters I can understand the trauma the parents are going through. I want the perps that kill children to be put to death slowly and painfully. If for no other reason than having put these children through the horror that preceeded the actual killing. Just imagine the terror these kids were going through in the period leading up to their death. And not understanding what they'd done to deserve such treatment.
    I do agree with Allen, though. It's enough that the crime is reported, ad infinitum without having to have a liveupdate from in front of the parents house every 15 minutes.
    It just proves the old axiom: If it bleeds, it leads.

    I would broadcast an every station in the nation till the child is found.More important than shooting towlheads or Wall street.Do it enough and maybe some of the pervs will think twice.I would make it a capitol offence.How to carry out the exicution?Cut their nuts off with a dull knife and let them bleed out.This is kidnappers that are pervs,I don't mean mothers and fathers stealing their kids back and forth.Why is it good to broadcast the crime alot?Alot of people don't have time to sit in front of the TV.Watch the tube for some news than of to do something.If my kid came up missing I would want 24 hour coverage till she was found.CW

    It is true that kidnappings are not "up." What is "up" is media coverage, probably because the Amber Alert is news in that it seems to have saved some lives in the past couple of weeks. I for one enjoy seeing these perps get picked up for a change. To the extent that the media uses phrases like "epidemic," they are misinforming the public, a serious charge for any serious news organization. There are no more kidnappings than usual. The news is the Amber Alert itself, and its successes or failures. Things will die down when the Amber Alert becomes less newsworthy.

    Its just the old rule of supply and demand. The networks are profiting on terrible things. The worse the news, the more people watch, the more money is made. I for one watch the O'reily Factor. He is always up to speed on current events. He puts people on, and frys them for their wrongdoing. He also makes lots of money. He is also one of the few who help people get the money they deserve.

    I have kids, and I will tell you- if any one touches them- they will not get to jail! When a parent holds that baby in his/her arms for the first time, it's like a new world of love. And when that kid is 1-2-3-4 years old- it's a feeling that can't be explained, but love-love-love. The laughing and playing and the new life a parent has is utopia!
    To have an idiot/stranger come and think he/her can just destroy this- deserves to die die die.
    These are bad souls- bad people, and I think the parents of these past kids should be given the right to torchure the assailent to DEATH!
    Man or God has no place for these people, but hell. Send them their slowly! Maybe if these people would think the penalty was to peel the skin off their bodies slowly- they would stop! I don't think so, as they know already they will be put to death if they do such a crime! They don't care!!!
    If you have ever looked into a childs eyes and see the Hope, Love, innocence, Trust, and Life- how can you keep your composure when one is a subject of a madperson!! I would kill that person with my bare hands and feel no remorse!!!!!!!!!!

    The longer they keep this in the public eye as a great threat, the easier it will be to convince people they have a cure. The cure will be an implanted chip. Sounds good, who wouldn't want to find their child with new technology? Just another shell game. Watch this hand while the other takes away ,yes even more of your liberties for the feeling of greater security.

    SAY THIS, WHEN YOUR CHILD IS LATE COMMING HOME!! OR DOESN'T COME HOME SOME NIGHT!!!! HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO GA FROM CA, 3-4 HRS BY PLANE, YOU MIGHT BE THE PERSON WHO SEES THIS CHILD 4- 6- 8- HRS LATER, A DAY LATER IN GA.

    Allen,
    I know it seems like it is a little far to send an Amber Alert,
    but in July at San Francisco Airport, a little girl from China,
    got off the plane and was supposed to be with a summer
    camp group, going to one of the universitys. They didn't
    notice that she was gone until they got to the university.
    They looked for 3 days for her, and she turned up in New York .
    We didn't have the Amber Alert system in place yet or I am
    sure they would have spotted her sooner.
    But it is true the media does hype it a little too much, such
    as they did when those 2 teenage girls that were taken from their
    boyfriends' trucks from a lover lane area in Southern CA.
    Then when they were found, the news media told everyone that
    they had been raped, and showed their faces. How horrible for
    the girls, that should havenever been said.
    But it's ratings...shame on them!
