Am I missing something here? I always take TP, and a few of 218's Cohibas would be useful, but no one seems to have mentioned a rifle, and I usually find one or two of those indespensible, especially for distances beyond which I can throw the Leatherman...

Rem - It matters what *kind* of hunting & the terrain. Waterfowl hunters typically don't need a compass, but that would be the first thing I'd grab before I plunged into deep woods. Etc., etc. That said, most important item is a clear mind and common sense.

I never go hunting without at least 25feet of rope. Deer hunting: use it to drag the deer out or if ya end up to far up on a mountain to drag it whole you can use the rope to hang the deer for field dressing.Gator hunting: have the rope handy so when 218beekeeper needs it you can throw it to him!..........I'm not going in that water!!!

I never leave the house with the No.1 on my list Item. Baby Wipes. I discovered while cleaning my daughters bottom about 6 years ago, that 1 baby wipe, and she was squeeky clean. I figured it would work on me. Now, I don't have to worry about being in an auto accident after hunting and driving home. When the paramedics get to me, not only will I be clean, I smell good to boot. Really, all kidding aside. Buy the small pack of re-sealable baby wipe, and you will never take tp again. A compass is also quite useful
