I'm glad to see it doesn't have any of those "inherently evil" bayonette lugs we have been hearing so much about, with all the drive-by bayonettings going on, so this is a "politically correct" firearm!
For now.

Besides, the custom finishes are an extra $250. I'll just buy her one of those rifle ghillie suits!

I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.

She's a beaut, Evil. Enjoy!
That's what I've heard! Several months ago, I had my latest .308 batttle rifle purchase narrowed down to the M1A and the SA58 FAL pictured above. Following the advise of the slight majority here on GB, I went with the M1A which has proven to be a fantastic weapon.
However, the SA58 has been calling my name for months like some dang siren out of a fishing tale! I had to have one, so here we are. She's not the prettiest of the lot, but she'll make a fine addition, I'm sure!
"Evil, I admit that looks like one swell toy, but as a hunter, I just have to ask, what will you use it for?"
As a hunter, I'll be using the SA58, a five round mag, and probably a Tasco SS scope.
As a free man, I'll be using it with the standard 20 rounders in defense of my freedom and ideals, if the need ever arises.
"Please let us know what kind of groups you get.I am still trying to make up my mind between what you bought and an Armalite AR-10. Decisions,decisions...ain't it great?"
I'll be sure to throw out a range report, but I'll tell you right now to go with the SA58 over the Armalite all day long. Just the $60 per mag cost on the Armalite alone would make me shy away from them for life. The brand new, 20 round metric FAL mags (USGI grade) can be had for less than $10 each!
The handling on the Armalite is much sweeter, but good luck getting the factory to ever fill an order for mags or replacement parts. I'll never own another Armalite.
Go with the SA58 Standard shown above, or the Carbine version. I didn't go with the Carbine because I like rifles that "do it all", but I may still pick one up down the line now that I have the full-size.
I'm interested in getting some velocity stats for the Carbine. DSA doesn't advertise them on their site that I have seen. Makes me wonder what that .308 is doing in a 16.25" barrel...
