my total crap scopes

Well, I probably deserve it because I should have known better but I'm posting this in hopes no one here repeats my mistakes on buying cheap Chinese scopes. I have purchased 2-3 cheap Chinese scopes,a Leapers from
Tapco and a BEC from CNN (?) Investments. Both were compact Chinese and neither is worth anything. I tried the new BEC yesterday and it is so bad that I can hit a target using my naked eye better at 100 yards than using this scope. The scopes look nice and are low cost but they are total crap. crap! crap! crap!
How do these people stay in business????????????

I must have lucked out. I bought a Norinco 3x7x38 or whatever scope off of ebay for $15 and have had it mounted on one of my Enfields for 2 years with no problems. I was quite suprised that it is holding up after hundreds of rounds and use in the field, but it is as I must have gotten a good one. Got burnt on a Leapers spotting scope, though. Thought since I had good luck with the * rifle scope I would get a spotting scope. Well, that $29 piece of junk is just what it is, a piece of junk. Look through it and you see a blurry foggy image no matter how it is adjusted. I gave to a couple of friends who used it for a baton pass on a jump and let it go before opening over a wooded area of their DZ, a fitting end.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

beantole, I'm glad to see you're still posting here. (I'm not here as much as one time was so maybe I've just missed your posts.) Anyhow, please tell me your real feelings on such scopes..

CNN and the others who peddle that crap are making millions off you guys who are trying to avoid paying what it takes to have good sights.

With scopes, you get what you pay for.

If you want good work out of your horse, you gotta stop feeding it "recycled" oats.
Why is it that people will look at, or know about cars, can see-know the obvious differnces in design, materials, and quality, yet,.... spend the money to buy a Yugo, and expect the performance of at least a GMC-Ford-Dodge to a Hum Vee???????????????????????????????????????.

SSgt Roberts,...Never made it to 'Nam. War winding down, draft ended. But, did a bit of traveling/private work in Europe, and Central America. Saw & met people living in cars up on blocks with no wheels to "castles".
Both my kids have travelled in Europe on their own. Son was arrested & shook down for $$$ in Brussels for the wrong Euro Rail pass. Was in Spain when riots hit. Had his hotel shot up from radicals.
He saw a woman beaten unconcious by men over a political disagreement!!!! Heard when he flew into NY, while walking down the steps, he started to cry, and literally got down on his hands and knees in front of the crew, and passengers, and kissed the ground. He was glad to be back in the USA! We were praying that he would have good times, and some bad times. He left, a strong very smart, cocky 19 year old boy-man. He came back a proud, but humble 20 year old American man. I am proud of him.
Have had the chance to meet a few interesting people from the other sides, Germany and Japan.
Actually met the Japanese Naval Pilot who led the attack on Peral Harbor. Father in law was in the first troops at Nagasaki. He wound up in a mental hospital for 6 months.
Met an 83 year old navigator vet, shot down over Germany twice, saw his messed up left shoulder from a 20mm round. When he was telling me of his experiences that occured OVER FIFTY YEARS AGO he......started crying. So did I.

    Where is this going...???

While I will disagree with you on Leupold, I must honor a life vow I made, and that is to ....thank EVERY American veteran I EVER meet for serving this GREAT country.
Don't care if a cook to general, or even if we don't like each other. Everyone has a part.

So,...THANK YOU..for doing us the honor of serving!! I appreciate it!
This goes to ALL of you whom I don't know, but am thankful for you.

No apology for getting this off my chest.

    Happy Bullet Holes!

Well, I tried (the first time) not to plug a product, but my scope of choice is Leupold. I'm not a rich man by any means, but I don't cut corners on rifle sights. My scopes are Leupold, and mounts are Leupold, Redfield, and Burris. Been using those products for 25 years...and I won't change until they change with their quality.

Leupold makes one of the best scopes out there. Besides, it is made in America, as is Burris. I would go without before I will buy something made in China.
Yeah, lets all keep buying that Chinese junk!

Leupold.....like the others said! Save your money and buy the best. Now I'll have to stand buy for all the offended Zeiss, Suwarski, Steiner, Nikon and Leica scope owners who all own the clearest scope ever made on the planet. Beach

I think you guys have finally gotten through to me. The light bulb is on. Leupold, eh?

Well, there's another gun show here in two weeks..... If I wind up looking for good rifle, might as well buy the one with the Leupold as the one with the brand x. Now I'll know why it costs a little more....

I never purchased Chinese scopes because too many people have complained about the quality. I have bought other scopes that weren't worth a tick tho.
I bought an old weaver and a Lyman Alaskan for $20.00 at an estate sale. I have my doubts about the Weaver but i have hopes for the Lyman.

Never ask why but only the value of.

I agree that Leupolds are very good scopes, but I think there are some that are just as good or almost, and for less money. Burris, Weaver, and especailly the new Bausch and Lombs. I still think that dollar for dollar one of the best buys is a Tasco World Class Plus. Granted it is not a Leupold, but I have sold alot of them and everyone seemed to like them. The other Tascos are not very good.

    Well, the secret is revealed.

In what area(s) of the law do you specialize? And in what states are you licensed? I may need a lawyer sometime.

I own two Leupolds and love them. However, don't overlook the Nikon Monarch. I've peered through both Nikon and Leupold scopes and have found Nikons to be clearer and brighter. Nikon makes a darn good scope and am considering a Nikon Monarch or Buckmaster for my shotgun.

I learned the hard way on my first scope, bought a Tasco, the thing busted after 50 rd's of 243. Weaver! not much better. Redfield...YUK

    Now: I have 13 Leupold's and 2 Nikons.

A hot barrel, is a warm fuzzy feeling.
