Military Firearms on History Channel tonight!

Tonight is a re-run of the two hour special on the development of assault style firearms on the History Channel. This is an excellent show, including lengthy interviewing with Kalashnikov and others. This is the show where he talks about being adamantly opposed to the AK-74's use of the smaller 5.45 round. There's stuff on Stoner's black rifle development, Uzis, AKs, G3s, and all kinds of goodies. Prepare your VCRs! In my area it's on now, but will be re-run later tonight! (I really need to be a rich man.... I've gotta see Bill Gates about a grant.....)

Saw the the show. One figure that surprised me was that to date only 50 million AK47/AKS/AK74 variants have been produced. I would think it would be at least twice that number.

Often the mind believes it is thinking, when it is only passing from one metaphor to the next.

While watching the show I found myself wondering why the army ever picked up stoner's design, especially going into the jungles, seemed to be plauged with problems. almost made me wonder why Stoner wasn't shoved against a wall and shot as a traitor for such a problematic design or maybe they did, and just used a M-16 and it misfired or jammed!
like I said, just what i got from the show, I nither own nor have I ever fired an Ar 15, may be the best damn rifle out there, just observations from the show-Ralph

Nothing very, very good or very, very bad lasts for very, very long.
