I just got talked into reloading and would like some advice from some of the experts. I would like to know some really good loads for a .300 win mag using 180gr and 200gr bullets. Types of powder and bullets you've had excellent luck with. I live in alaska and shoot a winchester......thanks.Iceman91

get a couple of reloading manuals. once you get started you will be loading other calibers and you will want to have the info on hand for yourself.

Iceman91 Richard Lee put out a supper little book Called "Moderen Reloading" about 10 bucks. Lee also has a starter kit that has the book and all you'll need to start. Nathcez shooting supply has the kit down around 70 bucks. They don't come with dies so that's extra. Midway has super service on all you will need. I'f your a shooter you will love reloading and the improved accuracy. I just started last year but did an awful lot research and found the lee stuff real easy to follow.P.S. I'm considering Moving up there are there plenty of gun shops?

The 300 win mag was the first round I reloaded for. I started with the Lee anniversary kit and still use it for my hunting rounds.I have found H1000 powder does a great job behind Sierra 180 grain boat tail spitzer for my Elk hunting. The powder load escapes me at the moment, it would be best to refer to a load manual anyway, but it is in the middle of what is specified in the LEE manual that came with the anniversary kit.I tried various powders but the H1000 really shines in my Browning A-bolt, I'd recommend giving it a try.

For the 180gr use Nosler Partition's (SBT) with 70 grains of IMR 4350. Super accurate load but be careful this is the maximum and you should not exceed the 70 grains. For the 200gr use Nosler Partition's (SBT) with 64gr of IMR 4350. This load also is super accurate. If you want to increase the power & lose some accuracy you can up the powder to a max of 68 grains. You can substitute Sierra, Speer or Hornady bullets they all shoot about the same. I made the assumption that these were primarily hunting loads.Good luck and verify "ALL" load data you receive. Anyone can make a mistake.RG[This message has been edited by rg666 (edited 09-10-2001).]

Just started reloading but I will back up RG666 on this one. I loaded the same thing(180PG) and got a super small group at the 100(subMOA).I really love this reloading bit and I believe anyone who starts will be amazed at the performance you get over factory stuff.
You can run, but you'll just die tired!Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, RELOAD!

I use a .300 win mag all the time. My best load is a .165 Boat-tail. I've found very little differece in brand of bullets. My best power is 4831 eather Hodgen or IMR 76 grs. The book calls for 78 but, to say the least,it's a little harsh. I use a 670 winchester rifle. Let me know how you make out.
