April 11th
AB 2222 has been amended, but the new language is no better than the
original bill. Under the amended language, the State of California
would offer the same punishment for reloading one single 50bmg cartridge
as they would for owning a sawed off shotgun.
Make no mistake, this is part one in an attempt to broaden the California gun
ban that started with the so-called 'assault weapons' ban. The bill
seeks to amend the 'assault weapons' ban to include 50 bmg rifles and
ammunition - setting quite a precedent for adding a new class of guns to ban
each year.
You can read the amended bill text here (click here)
The extremist forces behind this gun ban are also pushing for a ban on all
handguns. If they succeed in banning the 50, their momentum to ban other
guns will gain ground. Contact Governor Gray Davis immediately and let him
know that you don't support the radical extremist gun control agenda, tell
him to oppose AB 2222 or you'll be opposing him in November. You can contact
Governor Davis by clicking here.

FCSPI Continues to receive calls and emails every day regarding the
anti fifty caliber bill now pending in CA (AB 2222). Everybody wants to
know, "what can I do to help?"
We have provided a link to the contact information for the members of
the Committee on Public Safety. (Click here for the contact info)
We are asking everyone to write a one page letter and send a copy
of it to each member of the Committee.
You can fax it directly to the Committee at (919)319-3745
A copy of each letter should also be sent to Governor Davis
(Click here for his address) and to your local Assembly member
(click here to look up their name and address)
This bill is pushed by the extremist Violence Policy Center, which has
publicly stated its aims to ban rifles in the forty and thirty caliber
range as well as promotes the total ban on all handgun ownership.
Thank You

Comments
"Come to the land of gang violence, earthquakes, riots, ATM muggings, and carjackings, but leave your firearms and permits at home!" Maybe they need some new billboards touting that particular "feature" of their fine state, since they're obviously so proud of it.
