Anybody have a shemagh?

I have seen these at the last couple of gunshows and finally bought one just for the heck of it. I like it. It is a real effective head-wrap and I think it would be just the ticket in the intended environment (dusty, windy, desert). Given the current politico/terro climate here in the U.S. I don't think I'll be wearing one while knocking about on my camping trips......but it's still kind of cool.

Now my question.......I have found one way to wrap them on the web but I here there are about three different ways to do it. Can anyone direct me to the instructions for different methods of wrapping? Do any of you guys have/ like these?

I usually wrap my smegmah around the big toe first, right foot is preferable. From there it goes through the crotch and around, like a diaper, then up to the headal area. Careful wrapping is needed at this point, usually, one can spin six times while a camel farts and get the desired result. If it's windy, it may take one or two more spins.

Alright you smart-aleks...........in politically incorrect terms.......a shemagh is what makes a rag-head a rag-head.......different than a turban, it is a woven cotton cloth about 40" x 40" that is worn around the head and face to protect against sun and sand. Used by British SAS and US special forces in the latest desert exercise. Check out http://www.actiongear.com/agcatalog/shemagh.html

Anyone have any alternate methods of wrapping?

I usually use a device called a ROOF to protect me from the sand and the sun.

I have worn more than a few of these, and they really do cut down on all the environmental conditions. There is nothing worse than having all that sand in your hair, nose, eyes, ears, etc... and the shemagh really cuts down on that trouble.

Additionally, add some water and it will really cool you down on a hot summer day. Hope this helps, and the instructions which were posted earlier are spot on! Good luck.

I wouldn't believe everything you read, especially when it's Brigade Quartermasters retailing the latest fashions from the front. Arabs wear ghutras; Brigade sells SAS-SOG-Closet Ninja shemaghs.

Regardless of what you call it, I dont believe you're going to be a happy camper if you decide to walk (or lurk) around wearing one in todays USA. jmho
