Mond the first thing you have to grasp, and many Brits do not, is the size of this place. The state I live in is larger than England from the Lizard Point to Hadrian's Wall. I drove from Glastonbury to N. Yorkshire in a day and was told that is a two day trip. I do 1000 miles + in a day here. That gets you one third of the way across the country. What are you interested in? Give us some themes to work with, places you would like to see, interests you have, something to go on. How are you traveling when you get here?

Start with Bunker Hill in Boston and Concord, MA. Then go to Yorktown, VA, followed by Cowpens, NC and Francis Marion Swamp in SC. Follow this by going to New Orleans on the Gulf coast. British have been to all these places before.

i would then drive through TX, NM, AZ and into CA.

BTW, VA is the size of England. Texas is larger than France.

If you come through Indiana, let me know. There are corn fields surrounded by cornfields here.

Feb to May is, as you know, Winter to spring. Start South and end North. Going left coast to east coast is sort of backwards historically speaking, but workable. Most of the National parks are in the West and they contain some of the most beautiful country/interesting sites in the US. Black Hills are worth a look, Great Smoky Mtns. Grand Canyon, Yosemite all are worth seeing. Saguaro Natl. Monument, Chaco Canyon, St. Louis Zoo. New York City, less civilized than London, but not as pretty, is a must see, with some outstanding Art Museums and tattoo parlors.

    MOND;
If you come all the way down here, to Florida, Stay away from anything "DISNEY"!!! Those people will suck the life(and money)right out of you.
If you do make it to Soutl Florida, look me up. You need to see the Everglades, so when you see the desert South West/ Grand Canyon, you'll have seen "it all" pretty much.
At any rate, the "glades" will be unbelievable.Especaily by "Airboat"[:D]

At that time of year, with three months to kill: I'd start in the
SouthWest and run a zig-zag pattern eastward.
Find a good mapping program and mark the spots you'd like to see
along the way to various points.
Most good mapping programs will let you sort the route you want to
take, based on "most scenic", "fastest", etc., and tell of any
    attractions along the way.

Our Beer is Pisz - If I were you I'd stay home and drink a Bit o' Heavy

If you insist on crossing the pond anyway, if you bring me a bottle of Welsh Single Malt Whiskey, I'll take you shooting, all on me.

Visit Texas. It has as wide a variety of scenery and countrysides as the whole rest of the country, and it's bigger than your whole country.

Hell, nunn, Texas is bigger than any country in Europe west of Russia.

Mond, if your travels should take you into the upper right corner toward the end of your trip (February is winter, March is late winter and April is end of winter), let me know. There are some beautiful places in upper New England.

    Yellowstone Park in Wyoming
    Grand Canyon

If you want to see Cities San Francisco is a hoot, New York City, Washington DC monuments and the Smithsonian Institue, Baltimore Inner Harbour, Annapolis

Yep, I've seen them and erosion seems to be a major problem for some of them, particularly that Grand Canyon thing.

3 posts HeDog, and not one mention of Wannemachers!![:0][:0][B)][B)] Maybe because he won't be able to buy anything. Anyway mond, there are usually a few (as little as 2-3, as many as 6-8) of us GB'ers that make the Tulsa Oklahoma gunshow (aka, Wannemacher) in April. Would be great to meet "mond from across the pond".!! Seriously though, let us know when and where, I'm sure there are a few here who would buy ya a cup o' joe, or a burger.

    Far, we've been traveling far
Without a home, but not without a star
Free, only want to be free
We huddle close and hang on to that dream

On the boats and on the planes
    They're coming to America
    Never looking back again
    They're coming to America

Home, don't it seem so far away
    Oh, we're traveling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm

Home, it's a new and shining place
Make our bed and we'll say our grace
    Freedom's light burning warm
    Freedom's light burning warm

    Everywhere around the world
    They're coming to America
    Every time that flag's unfurled
    They're coming to America
    They're coming to America

Got a dream to take them there
    They're coming to America
Got a dream, they come to share
    They're coming to America

    They're coming to America
    They're coming to America
    They're coming to America
    They're coming to America

    Today, Today, Today.
