I stopped by an Estate sale today and picked up a "Boeing School Of Aeronautics" 3-ring binder complete with the students (one L. V. Freeman)test pages and diagrams with notes. One of the most interesting is the "Instructional Charts Allison Engines - Students Preliminary Instruction Manual" 44 pages of line drawings and artwork depicting the Allison engine in P-51, P-39C, P-38, P-40 and P-40D&E. It's dated 8-16-42. I could not believe this guys kids didn't want it, they all had the chance, looked it over and passed.

Anyone ever seen one of these before.

Oh, BTW the aforementioned planes all had guns!!

Information about a P51 with an Allison?....1942? must have been one of the very early models. They later had the more powerful Rolls-Merlin's.

We have a number of fellows here in farm country that run the supercharged Allison aircraft engines in hot rod pulling tractors, a few use the Packard engines (used in PT boats).....smooooooth and powerful.
