Washington-AP -- The Army's top civilan official says weaponry and war supplies were recently moved to a Kuwaiti base -- to check their readiness for war.

The base is near the Iraqi border.

Army Secretary Thomas White says the supplies were then moved back to their permanent stockpile in Qatar (KAH'-tahr) -- a U-S ally.

They included tanks, fuel, ammunition and other supplies.

White says they'll be used in the event President Bush orders preparations for war.

But White says the exercise was one that is conducted periodically -- and that Bush has made no decision about war against Iraq.

Army officials could not immediately say when was the last time pre-positioned war stocks were moved to Kuwait for inspection and testing.
