My grandpa had a Win M12 pump in 16 gauge. My cousin, an avid hunter, wound up with it. There's one design element I would ask you M12 lovers about. It seemed to me that when unloading the gun it was possible for the ejector rod (if memory serves that was what that metal bar was) could conceivably strike the primer of a live shell coming out of the port. It always struck me as a potential, and I emphasize potential, issue for an accidental discharge. Anybody know what I'm referring to here? It's been a while, so I could be hazy on it, but I do recall a metal bar that poked out when ejecting live shells to unload.

You'll always like your Model 12. The first one I ever shot belonged to a friend of mine in high school. His dad had won it in a raffle and never shot it - he wasn't saving it, he just didn't care. Now you Winchester lovers cover your eyes - It was 1969 and we took it out of the box and threw the box and papers away, except for the instruction manual. We more or less got the two pieces together since my dad had a Win 97 and I was sort of familiar with the takedown. We shot hand
thrown clay pigeons and I was amazed at how it came up to my shoulder.
In 1973 when I got my first teaching paycheck I took $100 and bought an old clunker model 12. I eventually got more money and was able to buy one new in the box like the first one I shot. Yes, Ikept the box!

Went to the ttrap shoot with it last night. After the first round (Which we WILL NOT TALK ABOUT) I was consistently shooting around 80% She shoulders like a dream. One night of shooting and I'm in love.
