Took almost 4 months to the day but I finally got my two guns from CMP; a Mossberg M44 .22 and a Danish M1 Service Grade with VAR barrel and Springfield reciever. The .22 needs a new trigger guard and clip, no surprise there. The M1 is one of the better ones I have seen come out of CMP so lucky me. All the parts of the stock match and look nice, the metal is in excellant shape- I think I may have lucked out as I heard that some VAR rifles were issued and some weren't; perhaps I got one that was rebuilt and never reissued. Can't wait to try it out! Now to load up some ammo and take it to the range.

How much did they set you back?

The Garand set me back $425 and the Mossberg $75, plus $19.95 shipping per rifle and sales tax as I live in Ohio. For those of you who want to go, there is a CMP store in Camp Perry where I got another Mossberg, but as they didint' have any Danish M1s, I didn't get the Garand there.
