Scope question..

I have a Simmons Whitetail Expedition 3-9X42 scope for my .30-06. I noticed the other day that the vertical cross-hair (is recticle the correct term for this??) appears to have a shadow. When I look through the scope I see two vertical lines, one is slightly to the left of the other and a bit less bright. The line to the left is blurry and it distracts me when I'm trying to lock in on the center of my target. Has anybody seen this before and do you know what is causing this? If it is a known problem or sign of being broken I want to send it back to the manufacturer. Thanks

The answer to your problem lies in the first sentence of your paragraph. It's a Simmons pure and simple. I've only owned one simmons. Never again.

O.k., different company, same probem. My weaver 3-9 scope has a lot of distortion along the upper edge between the 12 o'clock and the 3 o'clock positions. When I increase the magnification, the distortion increases. What causes it and how do I fix it?

These are all problems with Quality Control. Send scopes back for repair or replacement. As you increase magnification, distortion increases due to a poor internal alignment.
