Ever wonder why the day after Thanks Giving is called Black Friday, why not White Friday?

Could someone please enlighten me as to the term "Black Friday" for
the day after Thanksgiving? I was always under the impression that
Black Friday refered to Good Friday during Easter.

Seeing lots of deals on gun stuff ramping up on Black Friday.

I hope it is pouring rain that morning, thinking about buying the wife a new Subaru. End of the month, Black Friday and pouring rain make for a good deal making environment.[:D]

I like those suv too. It was on our short list, before we bough her a Sonata. We have never owned a car in 32 years, only trucks. I like the car, but Donna would rather have another SUV. Next truck will be another big SUV or Pickup.

When we bought our 2012 Outback it came down to that or a Sorrento. My wife loves her Outback. We're tempted on the VW Golf Alltrack but I am leary of the poor dependability record of VW. Just more practical a decision to stick with an outback, they just work and work well.

I refuse to buy a "new" car. $1,000s lost in depreciation as soon as you leave the lot.

I always shop/search for a 1-2yo low mileage automobile. Most, of which, are still under factory warranty with some having an extended warranty.

Good used cars in my area (near Memphis, TN) sell at a premium. That's why I learned a few years ago that these same cars are available, sometimes for $1000s less, in Florida.

Dealers in the Memphis area purchase late model used cars at Florida auctions then ship them to their lots in Memphis for resale.

I have seen used Lexus automobiles priced at a Florida dealer for as much as $4k-$8k less for a comparable car at the local Memphis dealer.

No new cars for me. That's throwing money away.

Buy Toyotas. We drove my wife Tundra for 2 1/2 years and put 48k on it. We traded it in for 3500 less than we paid for it. They had it on the lot for 2k more than we paid for it new.

Our Subaru has done very well to hold its value. Subarus are at the top for resale value.

    Old joke
a fellow waited on the worst day storming snowing roads in terrible shape , He thought I can go get a good deal today , not many going to be car shopping and they will be willing to deal [^][^]
as he goes into the dealer show room he was right no one in sight but a few salespeople no other customers .
he was smiling to him self about his plan ,
when the salesman comes up and says,,,,
wow you must be desperate to buy a car today ,,coming out in this weather [:0][:0]

Last summer I bought the wife a 2002 Camry with 30,000 original miles. An old couple bought it new and put the miles on it in 14 years. It was kept inside and had all the service records on it.
