i am beginning to have a hard time opening my safe. sometimes i have to try the combination 4-5 times before it will open. i have sprayed a little WD-40 in the key lock, but it didn't really help. if i hit the combination dial with my fist a little, it does help some. any ideas other than buying a new safe

Why not have a locksmith service it? Can't be near as much as a new safe...

Agree, it sounds like wear in the tumblers! You might want to contact the manufacturer or a locksmith before you spend money on a new safe.

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

WD40 isn't what I'd use on a gunsafe lock. That stuff will gun up and give you grief.

If you've hit it with WD, time to get a locksmith to clean it up before yo can't open it anymore without using a fire hatchet or explosives.

I got over those pesky issues by just leaving the thing unlocked.
    It opens so much easier.

You might have to spray a degreaser or electric contact cleaner first to cleanout the wd 40 first

    BRAKE-CLEAN or STARTING-FLUID (Ether)

Mine did the same thing a few years ago.The night before I was leaving on a weeks hunting trip I had to try for an hour to get my safe open.I locked the safe door with the door in the open position and that was it.It would never unlock again.I took the lock apart from the inside to get the safe to close and when I got back from hunting I ordered and insalled a key pad lock.No problems so far.
