New billboards are getting attention in Arizona. Some reported seeing one or two messages, but the newspaper listed all of them. Here's a list of all variations of the "God Speaks" billboards. The billboards are a simple black background with white text. No fine print or sponsoring organization is included. These are awesome... enjoy.

Tell the kids I love them. -God

Let's meet at my house Sunday before the game. -God

C'mon over and bring the kids. -God

What part of "Thou Shalt Not..." didn't you understand? -God

We need to talk. -God

Keep using my name in vain, I'll make rush hour longer. -God

Loved the wedding, invite me to the marriage. -God

That "Love Thy Neighbor" thing... I meant it. -God

I love you and you and you and you and... -God

Will the road you're on get you to my place? -God

Follow me. -God

Big bang theory, you've got to be kidding. -God

My way is the highway. -God

Need directions? -God

You think it's hot here? -God

Have you read my #1 best seller? There will be a test. -God

Do you have any idea where you're going? -God

(And my personal favorite...)

Don't make me come down there. -God

Sounds like the movie(s) coming to real life. I like the little girls phrase "Think God" This could spread across the country (world). Then there is that other movie where the little boy boycotts baseball, and all the sports players join in for total world nuclear disarmament. Now that would be something.

I have seen these billboards. I find both them and their messages offensive. They trivialize the bible, glibly hawking the Word like so many Burma Shave slogans. Worst of all, they claim a false authorship. Shame on whomever is doing this.

Be very careful Dances, for you'll be flamed as a liberal! Apparently, thinking for oneself is a no-no for the alleged conservatives (read: nethanderal). (BTW: Wonder what they are trying to conserve?)

I've seen a few of them on the highway. I do not remember which state but they are all good.

Sodbuster, no one ever got poofed for flaming me! I'm tough, I can take it, and agree to get along. The billboards are ingenious, but I can't help wondering, "does the name of your deity really belong on the bumper of your car or on a billboard?" I kind of agree with Dances, that it seems a bit profane to me, or maybe disrespectful is what I mean. Being an atheist I am not offended, but I think if I were a believer I would have a less trivial view of the sacred.

Maggie: It is not the sentiment that offends me, it is the method used to convey it and, yes, the signature. I am not a religious person either, but I do respect the bible and I do believe in God. Perhaps it is that I never expected God to be in the direct marketing business, quipping clever for passing motorists.

From what I've heard, "God moves in mysterious ways His wonders to perform." Ya gotta admit the billboards are "mysterious."

    He Dog:
Thanks for the response. I can see where a person might feel that displaying GOD on bumperstickers, road signs or even T-shirts is a form of commercializing GOD's name and his message. I feel that it's not the $2.00 sticker stuck on your back bumper that matters, it's what's in your heart. We believers shouldn't be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and if we want to announce to the world by way of these different items, then I feel that we have every right to. Are there going to be times when we see messages on bumperstickers, signs, T-shirts that offend us? You bet, however I feel that this falls in the freedom of speech catagory.
My oldest daughter has a closet full of W.W.J.D. and other Christian clothes items.
My youngest has the same amount of linkin park, ozzy, and emenium clothes. These clothes that my youngest wears, sort of offends me, and the music is even worse, but I feel that she has every right to wear them!
As far as the flaming goes, anytime that I have let somebody "have it" about something that they have given an opinion about, I feel like a crum. Many months ago, gruntled gave his opinion on a certain subject. Without stopping to think, I gave a rude response to his opinion. I feel that I was wrong in my actions, and to this day I wish I would have kept to myself. Gruntled has every right to his opinion, and whether or not I agree, I should have respected his right to post as he wanted.
As for road-side signs, in general they are an eyesore no matter whats written on them. However, out here on the treeless plains, the jackrabbits need some sort of shade. If you don't like whats on them, don't read them. If GOD didn't want them there I'm sure he would remove them..

    whiteclouder,

Do you know, for fact, that the Mormons are responsible for these billboards? If not believe you may be on to something. Either way they do get your attention and make you think for a moment.

Being an Arizonian have noticed them getting more and more prevalent with time. Personally do not see find offensive, freedom of speech is a right, as is freedom to bear arms.

I appreciate the positive messages of them, however
I don't think God needs are help in anything. It's
a sad day when you have to put a bill-board up to
    remind people He is there.

Hey folks, this will pass. It's a better alternative to the people who want us to forget God altogether. This is right in their face, now excuse me while I go cover my eyes and smoke a fine cigar.

    I never saw them,but I don`t think I
like the way they are signed "GOD".

I`ll tell ya what does look pretty cool,
those big crosses high on the hillsides,
from N.C. up through the Virginias.
2 white ones, with a bigger yellow one in between.

    Who else has noticed them?

In the end, couldn't God claim responsibility for the signs? He put words into the mouth of Moses. David. Solomon. Isaiah. Samuel. Paul. John. Why not someone who puts up signs? Or couldn't He just give the guy an idea to work with? Unfortunately, too often people think that God is some great, all knowing, all seeing, untouchable, unreachable, unknowable "thing" when all He really wants to be is "Our Father". I'm a father. I'd try to get a message across to my kids that way. They'll remember it, and I'd have made them smile. I'd like to think that God would do it that way, too!

I am a christian and I find them great. I don't care if the mormons put them up or not. They haven't signed it to themselves. Some folks feel God is inapproachable. The signs help remind folks about God and are simple to relate to. He sent his son to earth to show he was approachable in a simple way..........FOR ALL PEOPLE. I give the signs 2 thumbs up they are great we have them all over NC.

I like them cause they make you for a moment to think about our Creator and take our minds off of our everyday problems and worries. That's their purpose. They are meant to be a little humorous. I believe God has a sense of humor. I do and I was created in His image and likeness, so He must have a funny bone too.

Suggesting these billboards are proper because you happen to agree with their message or find them humorous misses the point. Try these on for size:

That "Love Thy Neighbor" thing...includes Muslims and lesbians. -God

Keep taking my name in vain, I'll take away your guns. -God

Tolerating anyone pretentious enough to say they are speaking in God's behalf on a road sign just because the words "make us laugh" or "makes us think" says nothing about the practice itself, which is to sell one's church like so many Grand Slam breakfasts.

Often the mind believes it is thinking, when it is only passing from one metaphor to the next.

    Dances with Sheep:
If ya see Donnie and Marie putting up some of those signs could you get their autograph for me? I got room right next to Tony Orlando and Dawn's place on my mantle.
Hey, it'd be worth a 10 spot to me to get theirs too!

I live in a different part of the country and have not seen this batch. So thanks for passing them along. I think they are great![:)] If they get people thinking, that would be good![8D] If it gets them to asking Jesus to come into their hearts and take over as Lord and Saviour, that would be fantastique!![:D][:D][:D]
