I finally killed a deer......

I told the story awile back about how I had a big deer killed out of my blind, one that I had been scouting for awhile, 13 points including 2 drop tines. Well this afternoon I took off work and went down to the blind to setup for some hog hunting later tonight, spur of the moment deal, I had a friend who wanted to take his son around 10 o'clock or so. I went down and took an extra chair, some bottled water, and a couple of other things. I also took my new single shot H&R in .450 marlin. I drove to the blind mind you and messed around for half an hour or so, making all kinds of racket too. I took my truck back up to the main gate and walked back in, as I was putting my back pack on I noticed something moving on a point where the river turns back, I figured it was this doe I had seen nearly everyday for the last 6 or 7 months, you must have a doe permit to hunt doe in this county, besdies your tags, so I knew she wouldn't be too alarmed to my presence, I walked on torwards my blind when I noticed it wasn't her, it was much larger, I proceeded to the nearest cottonwood to conceal myself behind, and watched and waited till he stepped out, and when he did I was shaking like a leaf. I looked thru the scope and counted 11 easily, 2 forked, and when he turned towards my whistle, he was wider than any deer I had ever seen on my property, I pulled the hammer back and let fly, he disappeared. I thought how could I have missed, I looked up to see a tail heading over the fence and out of sight, I was disappointed. I thought I couldn't imagine how I missed him when I had him broad side and I put the crosshair right on his shoulder, so I was feeling a little dejected I walked over to where I last seen him to look for any sign of blood, and I almost passed out, he was laying on top of his legs, upright, he fell straight down in a heap, concealed in the tall grass. I stood around thinking what now, I was dazed to say the least. I didn't score him yet, but he was 17.5 inside and over 14 tall, 14 total points, 8 on the right, 6 on the left, and I think around 130 lbs. feild dressed, a rough guess, but by far the biggest I have ever taken on my property. I will get the pictures developed tomorrow morning and get them posted. By the way, the 350 gr FP Hornady exited the left shoulder, I am impressed with this new round. Thanks for the time guys.
