Remington Ceases Sales of Ammo to Civilian Market?

I was told today that an employee of a State Agency called Remington to order practice ammo for a State Law Enforcement Agency. They were turned down by Remington, saying that they had ceased all sales to the Civilian Market. Has anyone heard anything along this line?

I heard rumor that some ammo companies were preparing for massive production to support a war effort. About 6 - 9 months ago a report came out that the military was WAY short on ammo due to budget allocations and cuts and such. They were ceasing certain practice ranges for soldiers in order to conserve. It is possible that some of the ammo companies are hoping for a huge military contract. Hey, if they'll pay $500 for a toilet seat in the Pentagon...

Yeah, I remember the military ammo shortage.Good ol' Billy Boy Clinton. He sure had his priorities straight. Like my barf-bag neighbor told me the other day, "He did so much good for this country. I don't understand why you can't see through your personal dislike for Mr. Clinton."We may never recover from what he did to this country.

I was informed by a "credible, reliable source" roughly a year ago that small arms practice and even qualifications in some areas of the Pacific had been sharply curtailed due to an ammunition shortage. No exposure of this in the media (why am I not surprised?); nor any need for any further comment - I'd be preaching to the choir.
