Can all of you see where this histeria is going? Can you grasp the idea of turning a plane around because a 9m/m bullet was found in a seat? My gosh I'm going to the Vegas gun show can you imagine what might happen if I buy a set of dies and they x-ray my suitcase and see that? It's over the edge.

I checked a gun and it caused me to get un-shoed 3 times between Ontario and birmingham. Them folks even got freaky over a scope in my suitcase.
If you can't fix it with a hammer, take it to a mechanic. will270win@aol.com ~Secret Select Society Of Suave Stylish Smoking Jackets~

I checked recently about transporting firearms as checked baggage and was told it was ok to bring them inside to the ticket counter (Rather that curbside check in like at some airports) but no ammo in any quantity is allowed anymore. So if your flyin somewhere to go shoot make sure you have a source for ammo at your final destination.Thank you for flying with us.Have a nice day.

What about the real pros who handload all their ammunition for matches? Tough luck or drive I guess.

Do any of you remember when we were free in America? Back in the 1950's I do. WHY HAVE ALL YOU YOUNG PEOPLE ALLOWED THE FEDERAL GIVAMINT TO RUN SHOD OVER OUR RIGHTS? YOU ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE ELECTED AND RE ELECTED THE KENNEDYS, SHUMERS,SWEINSTEINS, AND THAT * CLINTON. PERHAPS 25% OF YOU HAVE VOTED AND YET YOU PRESUME TO DICTATE YOUR SOCIALIST IDEAS ON ALL AMERICANS? YOU TAKE NO INTEREST IN LOCAL POILITICS. YOU ONLY WANT TO PROTEST AGAINST THINGS ABOUT WHICH YOU HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING. IT'S TIME TO GET PATRIOTIC YOUNG PEOPLE ON THE AMERICAN MAINSTREAM AND TO HELL WITH THE SOCIALISTS. Rant finished, fire away.

In some ways we've never had it so good -- CCW permits are flying out the doors of PD's around the country, .223 ammo is selling out and gun sales are up. Now if we can just get the politicians to catch up with the sensibilities of the country. The 9mm is a mystery, since you wouldn't think sky marshalls would be choosing to use that round in any hardnosed config. That only leaves a couple of possibilities, one of which is a dunce who can't keep his s*** squared away, and the other is a terrorist. I don't have much sympathy for either, sorry. Oops, I dropped my 9mm! Sorry, stew! After all, there IS a war on.

Nope, I forgot. They're letting law enforcement fly armed with a letter of permission from his supervisor. Probably a cop's round. Which takes nothing away from what I said earlier. Put him/her in the former category.

I bet there are rounds in any one of my coat pockets right now. I could easily see this happening. However under the present situation I would empty my coat pockets before getting on an airplane.

According to Jeff Cooper, a human being cannot be killed by a 9MM. So a single bullet is no more deadly than a chapstick.

Well, I'm not familiar w/ Mr. Cooper's writings (I do know who he is!), but I know at least one person who died from a single round of 9mm. A .22 BB Cap in the right spot can do the job, so a 9mm sure will.Update: read an article this AM discussing state of our anti-terror preparation in which it was noted that the airlines / airports / security people don't have the technology in place to detect explosives such as Reid was carrying . . . yet these people go hysterical over a single round of ammo? Ignorance, thy name is legion (& Klinton, Scumbag Schumer, et. al.!).[This message has been edited by Iconoclast (edited 03-07-2002).]

Inoco.: FYI Jeff Cooper thought that a 45-70 was about right to shoot a house fly. Passed away several years ago.

Actually, Jeff Cooper's column still appears on the back page of Guns & Ammo, so unless they're doing reruns he's still breathing and teaching combat shooting at Gunsite. Of course you exaggerate his preference for the 1911 and a good .45 round to the 9mm. His point was not without merit. He was also a man's man in the Hemingway tradition and I always have enjoyed his writing and his dry wit.

Being a cigar smoker, I carry a plunge cutter with me that looks like a round for a 45. Actually, I should say until recently I carried a cutter with me. I had it taken from me while going through security. It was on my key-chain and in its state could not be used in a weapon, as it had no primer or powder in the casing. This is slowly turning into a sad world.

Ofen: It would be interesting to know it Jeff Cooper is still alive. But I'm sure he passed to the happy hunting ground a few years back. If you find out differently let me know. My point is Mr.Cooper on handguns was " He never saw a magnum he didn't like" Bigger is best.

I think you are mixing up Jeff Cooper with Elmer Keith or Bill Jordan who have both passed. Cooper is still alive I beleive.
