Hey,,,,,I was wondering if reloads, or any ammo , is still safe to use after over ten years of sitting in the box? Thanks in advance for your responses,,,,,y'all have been very helpful in the past.

If ammo is stored properly it will outlive you. Recently I found some 30 30 cartridges I loaded in the early 1960's and they went boom just like new ones..22 rim fire is another ball game. A bunch of old stuff had many ftf's.

Key is the storage. It will be safe absent any obvious signs of problems such as 'weeping' or cracked necks, but if it's been subjected to temperature extremes, ignition, combustion can be erratic = noticeable degradation in accuracy & consistency.

Late last year I found some of my Dad's old reloading equipment and reloaded ammo stored in the attic of an old shed since the late fifties. This equipment, supplies and ammo looked aged, mildly weathered, but not corroded, etc., after more than forty years of storage in an outside shed building. One evening I ran short of some primers while reloading so I tried 50 of my vintage collection in some .357 loads - no problem at all. So, I then tried the .38 and .357 ammo next and had the same good results. I kept a couple of the vintage items for keepsakes but the rest has all since been used with 100% results including powder. Please note that I did carefully inspect everything prior to using and/or shooting and anything that mildly looked suspect was discarded.

I bought out an old scrounger and the primers were in wooden boxes and they worked just fine. Eat your heart out Schummer.
