My dealings with Airport security..

Friday afternoon, My wife and I went to pick our daughter up at the airport... We get to the entrance of the airport and the local police (security) stopped us and I rolled down the window and the officer said: "Do you have any weapons in your vehicle." I said, yes....He said, do you have it on your person, I said, yes and he asked me to hand it to him so he could put it in the trunk of the car...So I hand him my weapon and he puts it in the trunk....He comes back to the window and I ask him...Would you like to see my CCW...and it hits him that he failed to ask if I had a permit for this gun.. Now we go back to the airport monday, for our daughter to go back home and we come across the same check point, different officer..This time I'm in my truck...The officer comes to the window and ask if I have a key for my tool-box in the back of my truck..I said no, I forgot and left it at home....He said ok, just don't get out of my truck and just drop her off...Now I still have my weapon with me and they never asked about it...Never searched the vehicle..... Should this make us feel better about the security? I don't think so...maybe they need to brain-storm a list of questions and get a routine for searching vehicles...

Bubba,am I missing something? You can still take weapons into the airport, say a hunting trip or shoot in another state, all weapons must be checked. It is kinda a joke they would ask you though,if the answer was no would they search?

There will NEVER be good security at airports until they stop hiring a bunch of brain dead losers. Think about it: the person working at the airport is the same type of person who works behind the counter at McDonalds. If you want good security, you're going to have to pay good money to hire good people.

In Louisville before 9/11. Pulled out of screening, had briefcase, travel bag, and my body gone over with a "sniffer". Asked them, "Why the extra care"? Was told I, "look like a drug smuggler". Dressed in business attire, overweight caucasian male, recent hair cut."Security" was three very overweight people: two females of different/mixed races, and one male of different race.Needless to say, I passed. Was in Florida last month, again got pulled out! Metal detector went off. My stomach, my back, left sock-not shoe, and right shoe-not sock kept setting the hand detector off. Had to open belt, take off shoes, and submit to a "pat down, and pat up". Wish it wasn't a male. They looked confused as they "passed me".Behind me a cowboy with beautiful boots, no metal in them, also set the alarm off. He had to hop around taking off his boots, and hop around again putting them on. No chairs. Passed.Felt sorry for him.
    Happy Bullet Holes!

If you had a dipper on your head and a black beard, couldn't speak very good english, they would be afraid to stop you, because that would be considered profiling. But the all-amirican cowboy, now we'll really run him throught the ringer so we feel good about doing our job. Not that we acomplished anything; But we sure pushed you around and there isn't anything you can do about it.
